Forget Walt: Disney’s Latest Park Experience Is All About the Ladies
Disneyland Resort‘s newest guided tour shifts focus from Walt Disney to the women who designed attractions, created artwork, and shaped the park’s identity—names many Disney Park guests have never heard, despite their foundational contributions to the Happiest Place on Earth.
“Women Who Make The Magic Guided Tour” launched this month as part of Disneyland Resort’s 70th anniversary, providing guests with headsets with curated soundtracks while expert guides reveal stories of female pioneers behind the original Southern California Disney park.
A Tour Spotlighting Hidden History at Disneyland

Disneyland Resort promotes the two-hour experience as a chance to “Travel through the living storybook of Disneyland Park and take in its realms of whimsy as you witness firsthand the accomplishments of legendary women—all leaders in their fields—who helped make this original Disney theme park a reality.”
Featured women include Harriet Burns, Alice Davis, Mary Blair, Ruth Shellhorn, Leota Toombs, Kim Irvine, and Dorothea Redmond. The tour explores how they “got their start at The Walt Disney Company, made names for themselves, and paved the way for future generations to succeed and continue the unparalleled legacy of Disney storytelling.”
