Disney Just Hiked the Price of One of Its Most Affordable Souvenirs

Disneyland Paris Resort just hiked the price of one of its most affordable souvenirs. Are they still worth the cost?

It’s no secret that a Disney Park vacation is expensive. Whether you’re flying to Walt Disney World Resort in Central Florida or embarking on a European adventure at Disneyland Paris Resort, theme park tickets, Disney Resort hotel stays, food, Lightning Lanes, vacation photos…it all adds up. If you have kids, the cost multiplies–especially when they want everything they see in every souvenir shop.

Not much about the Disney parks these days is “cheap,” but there are some ways to enjoy the Happiest and Most Magical Places on Earth on a budget. One of the most fun ways is to collect pocket-sized souvenirs around the Disney parks, shopping & dining districts, and Disney Resort hotels: pressed pennies and souvenir medallion coins.

In the United States, souvenir medallion coins come in silver, brass, gold, and other metallic finishes. They are often released in collections celebrating special events like Disney100, Walt Disney World Resort‘s 50th anniversary, and Disneyland Resort’s 70th anniversary. They’re a little more expensive than pressed pennies–usually around $5 instead of $1–but the designs are more consistently printed, and the medallions are much heavier than a pressed penny. The Disney parks usually sell foldable books for less than $20, helping guests safely carry their souvenir collections home.

Some international Disney parks, including Disneyland Paris Resort, have also begun offering souvenir medallion coins. Unfortunately, the European Disney park recently raised the price of its French mint-inspired Monnaie de Paris coins from €3 to €3.50 (about $3.50 to $4.08). Notably, they’re still about $1 (€.86) cheaper than souvenir medallions at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort.

On X (formerly known as Twitter), @PixiedustDLP shared a photo of one of the upgraded souvenir medallion machines available throughout Disneyland Park (Paris) and Walt Disney Studios Park. This specific machine features a Buzz and Woody design inspired by Toy Story (1995).
