NEW: ‘Up’ Ride Officially Coming to the Disney Parks in 2027
Russell, Carl, and the Wilderness Explorers are getting their own theme park ride, and Disney has just confirmed when theme park guests can expect to board.
Up (2009) Ride Gets Name and the Date

Disneyland Paris Resort announced on April 12 that its previously teased Up (2009)-inspired attraction will be called Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings, with a 2027 opening date on the books. The flying carousel-style ride will send Disney Adventure World guests soaring through the air alongside Russell and the Wilderness Explorers, making it the first major Up-themed ride experience at any Disney park.

The queue will be divided into four themed zones, each pulling from a different moment in the Pixar Animation Studios film, and filled with life-size props from the story — among them Carl’s aviator helmet and goggles from his childhood and Ellie’s iconic adventure book. Once on board, Disney Park guests can choose between individual swings or attached duo chairs for those who want to experience the ride with someone beside them.

The attraction will sit at the heart of a themed garden inspired by Up in the Adventure Way land. An exact date within 2027 has not yet been announced.
The New Disney Adventure World
Disney Adventure World itself is barely two weeks old. The Disneyland Paris Resort theme park opened on March 29 after a full rebrand from its former identity as Walt Disney Studios Park, bringing with it a wave of new experiences including the World of Frozen, the Raiponce Tangled Spin ride, Disney Cascade of Lights, and a Disney Princess character dining experience at the Regal View Restaurant & Lounge. Existing favorites like Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and Marvel Avengers Campus carried over into the new park.

Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings is part of a longer runway of additions still to come. A Lion King (1994) land with a log flume ride, a scaled Pride Rock, and audio-animatronic characters including Simba, Timon, and Pumbaa is also in development. Official planning documents have additionally pointed to a potential Avatar (2009) land in the park’s future, though Disney has not confirmed those plans.
