Guests Are Bathing in This Fountain at Disneyland – Why Isn’t Disney Stopping It?
Earlier this week, Disney Parks fans took to social media to discuss a “nasty” trend among Disneyland Resort guests. Many begged Disney to curb the behavior before someone gets hurt, while others blamed parents for allowing their children to break theme park rules.
On August 31, Redditor u/Hey_yo_its_me started a discussion on the social media platform after noticing families allowing their children to swim and bathe in the decorative fountains in Mickey’s Toontown. In 2023, Disneyland Park reimagined this area, hoping to make it more interactive and sensory-friendly–but swimming in the fountains is not part of that experience.
“First time seeing something like that,” the Disney Park guest wrote. “And kids even made it to the second level of the fountain. I envy those kids coz its HOT today, but at the same time kinda cringey. Took awhile before [Disney cast members] handled it. I’m guessing a SIGN will be put up there soon. Parents fault!”
The post amassed hundreds of upvotes and dozens of comments from Disney Parks fans, some of whom said they’d witnessed similar behavior.
“I’ve seen a family with 4 kids playing in the fountain months ago,” u/Grand-Painting7637 wrote. “The parents even gave their kids cups and they were filling them up while in the fountain and drinking the water. I was gonna yack. The parents sat there watching as they were doing this too all while laughing.”
“I’ve only seen kids in the bottom tier, but it’s a huge problem,” u/FairyRebelsWild said. “They should probably assign a cast member nearby to enforce rules.”
Many Disney Parks fans called on Disneyland Resort to step in before something bad happened in one of the park’s fountains.
“Until a kid breaks their head open, Disney probably won’t prioritize that as a safety position and will use the labor on attractions/foods/etc.,” said u/WorkOutDrinkMore. “Now once something bad and nasty happens they’ll do a knee jerk reaction and get someone in there. But I promise the people letting their kids do this already won’t be stopped by a little sign.”
“I worked there for several years and I’d never let the water touch me,” u/iSavedtheGalaxy added. “Just because it’s clear doesn’t mean it’s clean. The water systems are interconnected and full of all kinds of chemicals to kill the algae, bacteria, piss, shit, vomit, etc that winds up in the water. One of my coworkers fell in the water and they sent him to on-site Urgent Care for shots.”
Others blamed parents for allowing–or encouraging–their children to break the Disneyland Resort rules.
“If only we can get parents to parent at Disneyland,” u/snakes_lil_bandit commented.
Still, some Disney Parks fans argued that there was nothing wrong with kids cooling off in the water at Disneyland Park–even in a fountain.
“Let’s be honest. The sun do be trying to murder us some days,” said u/E1M1_DOOM. “These kids are fighting for survival.”
“Never see any reason for kids to not get wet when they can,” u/Usual-Wheel7497 agreed. “…If kids strip down a little who really care except for a few prudes.”
As of September 3, 2025, Disneyland Resort has not made any changes near the fountain in Mickey’s Toontown.
