Disneyland Cast Member Stops Man From Filming Family on Main Street, U.S.A.

A Disneyland Resort guest recently found himself stopped by a cast member for filming on Main Street, U.S.A. The situation, which was captured on video, has sparked some debate among Disney Parks fans about the rules surrounding filming in the park.

The controversy unfolded on August 13, when TikTok user @eljojo100 shared a video that shows a Disney cast member intervening while the guest tried to record what appeared to be a commercial production on Main Street, U.S.A. In the video, the Disney cast member approaches the guest, asking him to “keep moving,” as filming for the commercial production was happening nearby.

“I need you to keep moving, please,” the Disney cast member said in the video, repeatedly asking the guest to move away. As the TikTok user attempts to film over the cast member’s head, the cast member takes further action, placing his hand in front of the camera lens.

“Nope, all the way down, please,” the cast member said. “I need you to keep moving. Thank you so much. We’re filming here; we can’t have you in the background filming.”

The guest was frustrated after noticing the same Disney cast member recording the production with his phone: “He can be in the background and film, and it’s ok?”

The video quickly gained traction, amassing over 600,000 views and sparking a lively discussion in the comments. Many Disney Parks fans sided with the cast member, arguing that he was simply doing his job and preventing the guest from interfering with a professional production.

“He’s literally doing his job,” @antwonyz commented. “He said ‘keep moving’ imagine just standing there just recording and appearing in the background while they’re working. You could have probably still kept recording if you just kept walking.”

“He’s a CM 🙄 why do people think it is ok to say: well he’s doing it too… dude he work for the company not you,” @cali_girl1030 agreed.

However, some viewers argued that the Disney cast member overstepped his boundaries.

“Its weird because they allow guests to record lol,” @strangerr_danger wrote. “I’m a former CM and have done it multiple times myself for holidays, park filming, events..etc.. He just wanted some authority.”

“Cast members are definitely not supposed to have their phones out in uniform,” said @dorksausage.

While Disneyland Resort’s rules do not explicitly prohibit filming on Main Street, U.S.A., the park is private property, and guests are expected to follow cast members’ instructions.

Disneyland Resort’s approach to guest filming has been a topic of conversation for some time, especially as the presence of social media content creators and live streaming continues to rise. Many guests enjoy recording memories for personal use, but the presence of flash photography and loud video recordings on dark rides has caused some concern. In response to breakdowns caused by dropped cell phones, Disneyland Resort recently banned filming on Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway.

Who was in the wrong here: the Disney Park guest or cast member? Disney Dining would love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
