Families Blocked From Entering Walt Disney’s Original Fantasyland Area
A corner of Disneyland Park steeped in decades of theme park history is now sitting behind construction walls. It’s the third time in under a year that crews have descended on the same Fantasyland location without a word of explanation from Disneyland Resort.
Three Construction Projects, No Answers

The trouble started last summer, when scaffolding and themed scrim wrapped around the Edelweiss Snacks building in Fantasyland for the first time. The Quick-Service kiosk stayed open, and Disneyland Resort never said what the work was for.
A second project followed in February 2026 — this time with an official closure announcement. The location came back online on March 5, looking largely the same as before, with touched-up paint and an unchanged menu as the only evidence that anything had happened.
The walls returned last week for a third time, again with no statement from Disneyland Resort about what needs fixing or how long crews expect to be there. Edelweiss Snacks has continued serving food through a window, with turkey legs, bratwurst, frozen drinks, and fountain beverages all still available.
A Historic Fantasyland Spot Now Off-Limits at Disneyland

On April 6, Laughing Place reported that construction walls had gone up around the Fantasia Gardens outdoor seating area that serves Edelweiss Snacks. An image shared by the outlet on X (formerly known as Twitter) shows the dining area completely enclosed by barriers:

Fantasia Gardens occupies the site of the former Motor Boat Cruise dock, a historic Disneyland Park attraction that Walt Disney opened in 1957. Southern California Disney Park guests rode small motorboats on a lake near the Matterhorn Bobsleds for 36 years before the attraction closed in 1993.

Whether the current work amounts to routine maintenance or an expansion of the outdoor dining space remains unclear. Disneyland Resort has not addressed the project publicly.
