Disneyland Closing Original Walt Disney Attraction, Effective September 2025
Disneyland Resort has announced that it will be closing Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room, with a refurbishment set to begin in September 2025. The move came as a surprise for Disney Parks fans as the Adventureland attraction just reopened on July 1 after another two-month maintenance period.
The Enchanted Tiki Room opened in 1963 and was the first attraction at Disneyland Park to showcase Walt Disney’s groundbreaking audio-animatronics technology. This innovation has since become a hallmark of Disney parks around the world. The Adventureland attraction was initially conceived as a dinner show before transitioning into the beloved bird-filled musical experience Disney Park guests know today.
Despite being a fan favorite for decades, Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room has faced its own set of challenges. When the show closed on April 28, Disneyland Resort promised that the show would return with several much-needed improvements. These updates included a complete overhaul of the Tangaroa Tree animatronic outside the building, new lighting inside the theater, and the restoration of several dormant special effects. The attraction reopened on July 1, 2025, but it soon became apparent that the updates had not entirely solved the issues.
Disneyland Park guests reported several problems with Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room shortly after reopening. Some noticed broken audio-animatronics, incorrectly timed special effects, and even a strange hissing sound that detracted from the experience. Apparently, these issues have led to the decision to close the Adventureland attraction once again for further refurbishment.
According to Disneyland Resort’s daily calendar, The Enchanted Tiki Room will close for refurbishment starting September 7, 2025. The calendar currently goes through September 8, 2025, and lists the attraction as “closed” on that date. However, there’s no clear timeline on how long the refurbishment will last.
