Disneyland Makes Multiple Guest Experience Cuts During 70th Anniversary
Disneyland Resort is in the middle of its 70th anniversary celebration. The milestone has been marked through returning entertainment, nostalgic elements, and messaging focused on the park’s legacy.
At the same time, guests have begun noticing operational changes across Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure. These shifts have not been formally announced but are increasingly visible during regular visits.

Anniversary years typically draw more attention to day-to-day operations. Frequent visitors, in particular, tend to notice changes in offerings, schedules, and guest perks.
In recent months, feedback has focused on dining, entertainment, hotels, and staffing. Individually, the changes are small. Taken together, they reflect a noticeable adjustment in how the resort is operating.
Dining and Entertainment Adjustments
Several quick-service dining locations now operate with reduced menus. Fewer entrées and limited rotation have become more common across the resort.
At Red Rose Taverne, guests recently encountered a menu centered on chicken flatbread folds. A burger option exists, but the selection is smaller than in previous years.
Galactic Grill has also drawn criticism from repeat visitors. The current menu is widely described as limited for a high-capacity Tomorrowland location.

Across Disneyland Resort, some locations have quietly removed individual menu items. These changes reduce preparation complexity and staffing needs.
Entertainment offerings have also shifted. Projection-based nighttime shows are now more common, particularly on weekdays.
Midweek visitors often encounter no fireworks, with projections replacing them entirely. Environmental considerations and local regulations play a role.
Fantasmic! now operates on a more limited schedule than in the past. The reduction has left fewer nighttime entertainment options on certain evenings. Guests have also complained about diminished effects during the production.

Live entertainment has been scaled back in several areas. Avengers Campus, in particular, has seen multiple character appearances removed, including Sam Wilson’s Captain America.
Hotel and Staffing Changes
Hotel guests have been affected by several operational updates. Early entry for on-property guests has been discontinued.
The removal reduces early-morning staffing needs and changes the value of staying at Disney-owned hotels.
Pixar Place Hotel guests also lost direct access to Disney California Adventure. The perk had been a key convenience for many visitors.

Combined with the loss of early entry, the change has made off-property hotels more competitive on price and convenience.
Staffing levels across the resort have also been reduced. Guests report fewer Cast Members at parking structures, security checkpoints, park entrances, and attractions.
Lower staffing has led to longer waits during busy periods and fewer guest interactions.
Despite these changes, Disneyland continues to plan major expansions. Projects remain in development, including a Coco-themed attraction, an Avatar land, and additional Avengers Campus development.
