Disney World Gives Guests Just 24 Hours Before New Restrictions Begin

A change is coming to Walt Disney World Resort tomorrow.

Guests visiting Disney World have long been able to travel around much of the resort using Disney’s free transportation network, whether staying at a Disney Resort hotel or simply visiting for the day.

That has made it easy to explore beyond the four theme parks. Many visitors ride the monorail between hotels, take boats to nearby resorts, or travel from Disney Springs to Disney Resort hotels for dining, shopping, or seasonal events.

Beginning June 28, however, Disney will introduce new restrictions on who can use transportation from Disney Springs, limiting access to certain guests.

Disney Limits Transportation From Disney Springs

Starting tomorrow, guests boarding a bus or boat from Disney Springs must present a valid Disney Resort hotel room key, MagicBand, or proof of a Dining or Enchanting Extras reservation.

The change only applies to transportation departing Disney Springs.

Guests staying at a Disney Resort hotel can continue using Disney transportation as normal, including Disney Resort hotel buses and the Sassagoula River Cruise boats serving Disney’s Old Key West Resort, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside, and Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter.

Guests with a dining reservation or an Enchanting Extras booking, such as a spa appointment at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, may also use Disney transportation beginning two hours before their reservation.

Disney said: “Disney Transportation from Disney Springs is intended for Guests staying at a Disney Resort Hotel or visiting one with a valid Dining or Enchanting Extras reservation. This helps keep our Disney Transportation running smoothly and allows us to deliver the best possible experience for our Disney Resort Hotels Guests.”

Guests Wonder Whether More Changes Could Follow

The transportation policy only affects Disney Springs, but some guests believe it could point to broader restrictions on access to Disney Resort hotels.

Disney recently included new wording while announcing the holiday resort decorations for 2026.

“For guests staying at the resorts or for those with valid dining reservations, the Disney Resorts Collection offers a wide array of bright and merry holiday decor.”

That language prompted speculation that resort hopping during the holiday season could become more limited.

Disney has long discouraged guests from using hotel parking lots simply to visit resorts without a reservation. Transportation, however, has remained an alternative for visitors wanting to dine, shop, or see seasonal decorations.

If similar transportation policies expand beyond Disney Springs, visiting Disney Resort hotels without an overnight stay or reservation could become more difficult.

Disney has not yet announced any additional changes beyond those taking effect on June 28.
