Disney World Saves Iconic Liberty Belle in Shocking Turn of Events

If you thought the Liberty Belle was dead, think again.

Magic Kingdom Park has welcomed Disney guests for over 50 years, but the park looks significantly different today than it did in 1971.

Like all Disney parks, multiple attractions have closed over the years to make way for pastures new. At Magic Kingdom, guests have said goodbye to favorites such as Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride (which famously sent people to hell in the ride), Snow White’s Scary Adventures, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, and Stitch’s Great Escape, with even more attractions joining the ranks of long-lost attractions in 2025 alone.

This year, we’ve said farewell to both Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America. The former was a quiet playground where guests could wander caves, cross suspension bridges, and explore rustic hideouts inspired by Mark Twain’s tales.

The latter served as the backdrop for Liberty Square and Frontierland, with the Liberty Belle riverboat offering scenic cruises around its winding waters.

Both closed in July to make way for Cars Land and a new area inspired by Disney Villains. While both are a long way off from opening, Disney has already made headway on demolishing the area.

Disney has gradually drained the Rivers of America. In late July, the Liberty Belle Riverboat was moved from the area, along with the Tom Sawyer Island rafts. It was subsequently heavily rumored that the Liberty Belle had been demolished.

Recent Rumor Disproves Demolition of Disney’s Liberty Belle

A new update has disproven this rumor.

For now, it’s unclear how Disney plans to use the Liberty Belle, if at all. Fans have suggested everything from reutilizing the boat as ferry transportation across Bay Lake – taking guests to and from the Transportation and Ticket Center, and Magic Kingdom Park – to relocating it to Disney’s Hollywood Studios for use in the Fantasmic! finale (with the existing boat often criticized by Disney fans).

While both sound unlikely in our opinion, stranger things have definitely happened at Disney World.
