It’s colorful, competitive, and surprisingly intense for a family-friendly game ride. Guests love it so much that it has kept a steady line for more than a decade. That part hasn’t changed—and according to Disney, nothing else is changing either. And that’s what has fans talking.
The latest update doesn’t mention enhancements, gameplay additions, or fresh scenes. Instead, the ride is simply continuing exactly as it is. For most attractions, that wouldn’t seem strange. But Toy Story Mania was originally promoted as a ride that could easily rotate in new games and sequences. It was built for updates, yet it hasn’t received a meaningful creative refresh since the early 2010s.
That gap is starting to feel more noticeable as Disney World evolves. When you look around property, you see change everywhere—new attractions rising, expansions underway, beloved classics getting polished-up storylines or effects. In contrast, Toy Story Mania is still playing through the same familiar series of games it has had for years.
Fans aren’t calling for the ride to be replaced. Far from it—they adore it. The concern is more about stagnation. The Toy Story franchise has continued to grow with new films and characters, and the ride seems like the perfect canvas to bring some of that newer energy to life.
Guests often mention how fun it would be to blast targets in a Forky-themed game or see Ducky and Bunny pop up in a new carnival-style scene. But those dreams feel distant with Disney’s latest “no changes” communication.
What makes this even more noticeable is how much Hollywood Studios has shifted around the ride. Other attractions in the park have received updates, new technology, or even complete overhauls. So for a ride designed to evolve to remain untouched suggests it has slid into a “good enough” category—still loved, still running, but not creatively prioritized.
There is one bright side: the upcoming Toy Story 5 film. Historically, Disney likes to sync ride refreshes with major franchise releases. If there’s ever going to be a moment for new life to be breathed into Toy Story Mania, it might be tied to that movie rollout.
Still, until Disney actually announces something, fans are understandably uneasy. Toy Story Mania deserves the same creative attention Disney is giving to other attractions.
