Disney’s Pop Century Resort is gearing up for a significant update, as room refurbishments are set to begin in late March 2025 and last through mid-February 2026.

Guests planning to stay at this popular value resort in 2025 may want to weigh the pros and cons, as daytime construction could impact the relaxed experience many look forward to at Disney World. Here’s what to know before booking your next trip.

Daytime Construction Expected

Throughout the refurbishment period, Pop Century’s guest rooms will be receiving modern updates, part of Disney’s continuous efforts to keep its resorts fresh.

While specifics on the updates haven’t been shared yet, Disney typically enhances rooms with updated furnishings, contemporary decor, and improved amenities. However, the nearly year-long construction will primarily occur during the day, meaning guests could encounter noise if they plan to return to their rooms for afternoon breaks or quiet time.

If you’re a park-all-day type of guest, this might not pose a significant inconvenience. But for those who prefer resting in their room or enjoying downtime at the resort, the construction could impact the overall experience. Families with young children, for instance, may want to carefully consider whether this timing aligns with their needs for a peaceful resort atmosphere.

Alternatives to Pop Century for 2025 Stays

For guests looking to avoid construction activity, several nearby options can offer a similar experience without the disruptions. Art of Animation, located right next door, provides a comparable value-priced stay, with family suites and standard rooms themed to Disney and Pixar favorites. Its food court, Landscape of Flavors, is easily accessible for Pop Century guests as well, especially if they wish to avoid any noise from the construction zones.

For a quieter, more secluded experience, moderate resorts such as Port Orleans – French Quarter offer a serene atmosphere with beautiful New Orleans-inspired decor and scenic walking paths. While this resort tends to be more tranquil, it’s still an affordable option that gives guests a peaceful retreat from the bustling parks.

Quick Note on Food Court Refurbishments

While the room updates are set for 2025, guests visiting Pop Century in 2024 should be aware that the Everything POP Food Court is also undergoing its own refurbishment until November 30, 2024. Although the food court remains open, seating may be limited, and guests are being asked to use alternative entrances.

This update will be completed well before the room refurbishments begin, but it’s something to consider if you’ll be visiting Pop Century in the fall of 2024.

What the Refurbishment Means for Future Guests

For Disney fans planning stays beyond 2025, these refurbishments signal a fresh and updated experience at Pop Century, which is one of Disney World’s most popular budget-friendly options. While the construction phase may be an inconvenience for those visiting during the updates, Disney is committed to enhancing the guest experience through these improvements.

Ultimately, whether to stay at Pop Century during the refurbishment depends on your preferences. If you’re looking forward to seeing the upgrades and don’t mind some daytime construction, this might be an exciting time to experience a refreshed resort. But if peace and quiet are at the top of your list, an alternate Disney resort may offer a more relaxing stay during this period.
