Major modifications have been confirmed for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at Disney World, set to debut in September. This exhilarating roller coaster, which originally opened in May 2022, has quickly become a favorite amongst visitors. In line with its popular appeal, Disney is focusing on enhancing the experience by highlighting the iconic song “September” by Earth, Wind & Fire.

This catchy tune has become synonymous with the ride, and for good reason. On September 21, 2025, Disney plans to celebrate with special events tied to the makeover, officially marking the date as a festive occasion for fans of the ride.

The ride experience of Cosmic Rewind is unlike any other at Disney World. Its unique design and operation are a significant part of its appeal. The roller coaster features a reverse launch, taking thrill-seekers on a journey that plays out in all directions. Unlike traditional coasters, the ride vehicles spin and rotate, allowing guests to experience the thrill from various angles as scenes unfold around them.

In just a few short years, Cosmic Rewind has skyrocketed in popularity, quickly cementing its place as one of Disney’s best offerings. The ride ranks high among other staples of the resort, like Space Mountain and Expedition Everest.

Its unique combination of immersive storytelling, lively music, and exhilarating ride mechanics has earned it acclaim from guests and critics alike. Comparisons to other top attractions such as Universal’s Jurassic World VelociCoaster demonstrate its status within the broader theme park landscape.

Additionally, Cosmic Rewind holds a special distinction as EPCOT’s first true thrill ride, a title that reflects its significant impact on the park’s offerings. With this new identity, EPCOT has expanded its capability to attract visitors seeking adrenaline-pumping adventures. This has not only revitalized interest in the park but has also positioned Disney World as a premier destination for thrill-seekers.

Luke Dammann

When at Disney world, Luke will probably be found eating with his favorite animatronic, Sonny Eclipse at Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe. When not at Disney World, Luke will probably be found defending Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe to people who claim "there are better restaurants"
