Disney’s Art of Animation Resort Marked as Active Construction Zone for 2026
Six construction permits filed in a single day signal that one of Walt Disney World Resort‘s most family-friendly hotels is slated for an in-depth maintenance project throughout 2026 and 2027.
What the Permits Reveal

On March 20, Walt Disney World Resort’s Facility Asset Management group filed six Notice of Commencement documents with local authorities, all of which point to upcoming mechanical work at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. The permits expire on March 20, 2027, giving crews a full year to complete the work.
Each of the six identical documents names Ferran Services & Contracting Inc. as the third-party contractor responsible for the mechanical work. The affected buildings span three themed areas of the resort — three Cars (2006) buildings at 1650, 1700, and 1750 Animation Way Bay Lake; two Finding Nemo (2003) buildings at 1800 and 1900 Animation Way Bay Lake; and one Lion King (1994) building at 1950 Animation Way Bay Lake. None of the Little Mermaid (1989) buildings at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort appear in any of the filed documents.
The involvement of Facility Asset Management — the group Walt Disney World Resort typically deploys for routine upkeep at its parks, hotels, and Disney Springs — suggests the planned work falls under general maintenance rather than a visible renovation, retheme, or overhaul. Mechanical work of this nature tends to stay behind the walls and out of sight.
What Guests Should Expect

Walt Disney World Resort has not released further details about the scope of the project. In line with standard Disney practice, work will likely be phased across the affected buildings to keep room inventory available for guests with existing reservations. Construction noise will be limited to daytime hours when most hotel guests are typically at the theme parks.
Guests staying at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort during the project window who have concerns about nearby construction are encouraged to stop by the Front Desk and speak with a cast member.
