Disney World Brings Back Retro-Style for Monorails in 2026

Something old is new again on the Walt Disney World Monorail, but it looks best after dark.

A Quietly Nostalgic Upgrade

Guests riding the Monorail in recent days have been spotting something different on the trams: glowing, vintage-inspired logos that appear to have been installed across the entire fleet within the last week. The update is subtle enough to go unnoticed during a daytime commute between parks and resorts, but once the lights come on, the retro aesthetic makes quite an impression.

X (formerly known as Twitter) user @greencheetah99 was among the first to document the change, posting photos:

It appears the WDW monorails now have glowing retro logos!

Walt Disney World Resort has remained quiet about the update, offering no public statement on when it was implemented or what prompted it.

The Monorail predates virtually everything else at the Central Florida Disney vacation destination. The system runs two loops: one threading through the Magic Kingdom corridor, stopping at the Transportation & Ticket Center, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, and a second dedicated to EPCOT. Guests connecting between the two loops transfer at the Transportation & Ticket Center.

Over the decades, Walt Disney World Resort has built out its transportation network beyond the Monorail. The Disney Skyliner gondola system now serves EPCOT and Hollywood Studios from Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, and Disney’s Riviera Resort. Watercraft options connect a handful of Disney Resort hotels to Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney Springs, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Bus service fills in the gaps resort-wide and remains the sole complimentary transportation option to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.
