EPCOT’s Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros is set to welcome guests once again today, March 15, following an extended closure for refurbishment. However, concerns remain after technical issues derailed a planned soft opening just one day prior.
Since January 6, the popular boat ride housed in EPCOT’s Mexico pavilion has been closed for maintenance. Its scheduled reopening today comes amid the busy spring break period, when Walt Disney World Resort crowds are at their peak. Notably, Magic Kingdom’s popular Lightning Lane Premier Pass recently sold out several days in a row, despite its $449 price tag. Gran Fiesta Tour’s return is expected to help manage some of the heightened guest traffic at EPCOT this weekend.
While EPCOT has largely completed its major transformation with the 2024 debut of World Celebration—which introduced CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza—other parks across Walt Disney World Resort remain in flux. Magic Kingdom is deep into its Frontierland overhaul, Disney’s Animal Kingdom is reimagining DinoLand U.S.A., and Disney’s Hollywood Studios is preparing to welcome Monstropolis. EPCOT’s upcoming Test Track redesign, inspired by the original World of Motion concept, is one of the few remaining updates on the park’s horizon.
The lead-up to Gran Fiesta Tour’s reopening has been rocky. Reports indicate that yesterday’s planned soft opening had to be abruptly canceled when animatronic figures inside the attraction malfunctioned. Disney World cast members closed the queue so maintenance teams could address the issues, leaving hopeful guests unable to preview the ride ahead of its official return.
Located in EPCOT’s World Showcase, Gran Fiesta Tour is among several notable attractions in the area, joining Frozen Ever After in the Norway pavilion and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in the France pavilion.
