Disney Shares Cryptic Message, Will Soon Change Jungle Cruise Attraction
The Disney Experiences brand spans the globe, with resorts across multiple continents. Beyond domestic destinations like Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort, Disney operates four additional international parks, each offering seasonal events throughout the year. With September here, Halloween celebrations have begun at locations worldwide.
At Hong Kong Disneyland, a new seasonal experience is making its debut. From September 19 through November 2, guests can take part in Uninvited! A Villains Takeover Party, a limited-time event that brings Disney Villains to Main Street, U.S.A. Disney describes it as “The Biggest Villains Party of All,” and the story centers on Maleficent, who “decides to stir up some fun of her own and goads the invited guests to call forth her uninvited counterparts.”
The event promises appearances from characters including Oogie Boogie, Gaston, Jafar, the Evil Queen, Hades, Captain Hook, Lady Tremaine, and more. Alongside the villains, their henchmen will join the party, creating a new type of Halloween experience at the park.
Meanwhile, the Jungle River Cruise at Hong Kong Disneyland is also getting attention this season. The ride, a staple since the park opened in 2005, has long been distinct from its U.S. counterparts. Guests encounter elephants spraying water, hippos below the surface, and a finale featuring fire and water spirits—an effect unique to Hong Kong Disneyland.
This fall, the Jungle River Cruise will receive a Halloween overlay. Hong Kong Disneyland Managing Director Michael Moriarty shared a teaser video on Instagram, writing: “Something’s amiss at the Jungle River Cruise…Who’s ready for a new after-dark story?” Usually, guests board a weathered tramp steamer, navigating a remote tropical river with cargo nets, wooden crates, timber canoes, and rusty anchors, led by their skipper.
Across Disney’s global resorts, seasonal events offer unique experiences for guests. In the U.S., Disneyland hosts the Oogie Boogie Bash, while Walt Disney World features Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Now, Hong Kong Disneyland is adding its own distinct celebration, combining classic Disney storytelling with new, immersive elements.
