Disney Rolls Out Ambitious Hotel Projects Coming in 2026

Disney World is constantly evolving. Guests often think about the newest ride or the latest land under construction, but some of the most meaningful changes are happening outside the parks. The hotels that welcome millions of visitors each year are about to look very different in 2026, not just in design but in the perks they provide.

Disney has confirmed that several long-running benefits will return next year, though a few will arrive with important twists. For anyone eyeing a Disney World vacation in 2026, these updates deserve a closer look.

Why Stay on Property?

Orlando offers plenty of hotels, but Disney resorts deliver something extra. Guests book more than a room—they step into a world where the theming mirrors the parks, the transportation flows directly into the experience, and the planning perks create a smoother trip.

The appeal stretches beyond convenience. A Disney resort stay gives guests peace of mind because Disney takes care of everything needed for a magical vacation. That’s why the updated perks matter so much—they shape how smooth the trip feels and how much value guests gain for the price.

Water Park Fun, With a Twist

The perk that turned heads in 2025 was the complimentary water park ticket for hotel guests, valid on the day of their check-in. Families loved having a way to kick off the trip with a splash.

The benefit will remain in effect through 2026, but Disney is making changes to how it works. The company confirmed it will give the free ticket only to returning Disney Resorts Collection guests, and only during the summer months. Guests can still enjoy the perk, but it will no longer serve as the year-round staple it was just a season ago.

Park Time Perks Stay Strong

Some of Disney’s most popular perks will continue as-is, which is good news for planners. Early Entry is sticking around, giving resort guests a 30-minute head start every single day—including check-in and check-out days.

With attractions like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin reopening in 2026, that extra half hour could mean shorter waits for classic fans who have been missing them.

Extended Evening Hours will also stay in place for Deluxe and Deluxe Villa guests. These late-night sessions transform busy parks into near-empty playgrounds, making them perfect for rides that typically command long waits. With the debut of the Muppet-themed Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster on the horizon, that extra access will feel more valuable than ever.

Dining Deals for Families

The Free Kids Dining Plan will remain a staple in 2026. Families who book a dining plan for everyone aged 10 and up will automatically receive free dining for children aged 3–9.

It’s one of the few ways to offset the ever-rising cost of meals at Disney. The plan even includes character dining and buffets.

Lightning Lane Advantage

For many, the real game-changer is the Lightning Lane booking perk. Disney hotel guests will once again enjoy a seven-day booking window, while everyone else is limited to three.

That four-day head start could be the difference between riding Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance or missing out entirely.

The Takeaway for 2026

Put it all together, and 2026 resort guests still come out ahead. Yes, the water park ticket is being scaled back, but other benefits—such as early entry, evening hours, free kids’ dining, and Lightning Lane booking—remain in place.

Disney is making it clear that staying on property still comes with advantages you can’t get elsewhere. For guests, it’s a reminder that where you stay shapes your entire trip. And as 2026 approaches, the perks ensure that Disney hotels remain more than just a bed—they’re part of the magic.
