On November 3, TikTok user @lalos.fitness shared this disturbing video taken during their late October stay at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. In the video’s caption, the guest explained that their family suffered numerous health issues during their October 19-23, 2-25, visit. Only on October 22 did they discover something disturbing growing in the bathroom of their Disney Resort hotel room.

The entire trip, my family of 3 had been feeling sick, sore throats, headaches, allergies, and breathing problems and now we realized why.

We had to buy medicine just to get through the stay. When we checked out, we called and emailed Disney immediately.

Let’s see what they do about this, because this was unsafe, disgusting, and completely ruined our trip.

While finding mold and mushrooms in a hotel room isn’t an ideal situation anywhere, it’s especially unexpected at one of the most expensive accommodation options at Disneyland Resort, with prices ranging from $650 nightly for a standard room to over $8,000 for family suites.

In the comments, several Disney Parks fans shared their negative experiences at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa.

“The fact it’s over $1000 a night makes this unbelievable,” said @PrincessWyn. “We’ve stayed there many times and it’s never been a great experience.”

“That whole resort needs to be remodeled,” @denisemoore2323 wrote. “It’s so old and outdated for what they charge.”

Others shared issues with cleanliness throughout Disneyland Resort.

“We had mold at The Disneyland Hotel too!” said @bonniejeens.

“Disney’s maintenance has gone down hill,” @superdupersike commented. “Their attention to detail is gone! The parking lot is filthy.”

Many Disney Parks fans encouraged the guests to report the issue and demand compensation from Disneyland Resort.

You know what I would’ve done got that shit compensated and a little more cause that’s crazy behavior,” said @vikkicarr3.

“That mold is actually dangerous,” @michelle_k4real replied.

“[Disney] put my entire family’s health on the line by sticking us in a TOXIC ROOM with MOLD AND MUSHROOMS growing out of the damn wall,” the Disney Park guest wrote. “We’ve been sick ever since and still getting medical treatment. Imagine paying for a vacation and ending up in a health nightmare. Absolutely disgusting.”

It’s unclear whether Disneyland Resort compensated the guests or took any actions to remediate the mold and mushroom problem at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. The Southern California Disney park hasn’t issued any public statements about the issue.

  1. Our room at the Contemporary Resort had mold on the wall, and the floor was soft when we stepped in a certain area. We asked for a different room and we’re told that we could not move because the hotel was full. We haven’t been back.
