Disney Relocates Wilderness Lodge Guests as Major Resort Outage Continues
What started as a water problem at one Walt Disney World resort has become a much bigger headache for guests trying to enjoy their vacations.
Guests staying at Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge have reported an ongoing water outage affecting their accommodations. The situation has become serious enough that some guests are being relocated to other Disney World resorts.
The outage reportedly began Saturday afternoon, and there was still no reported timeline for a full restoration as of Sunday evening.

Water Problems Disrupt Wilderness Lodge Stays
According to guest reports, the outage at Boulder Ridge began around 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 8.
Guests have described extremely low water pressure throughout their accommodations. Some have also reported toilets that will not flush properly.
Those issues can quickly turn a resort stay into a difficult situation. Running water is essential for everything from taking showers to washing hands and using bathrooms.
Boulder Ridge Villas is the Disney Vacation Club property located at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. The current reports specifically involve Boulder Ridge rather than the entire Wilderness Lodge resort complex.
At this point, the exact cause of the outage has not been reported. There is also no confirmed timeline for when normal water service will return.
Disney Begins Relocating Guests
With the outage continuing, Disney is reportedly moving some affected guests to other resorts.
Guests have been relocated to Disney’s Old Key West Resort and Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort. Both properties are Disney Vacation Club resorts located elsewhere on Walt Disney World property.
Disney is also reportedly offering refunds and bill adjustments to affected guests. Those offers aren’t limited to people who relocate, as some guests remaining at Boulder Ridge are also receiving adjustments.
Moving resorts in the middle of a vacation isn’t exactly an easy process. Families may have already unpacked and planned their transportation around their original resort. Now, some are having to pack everything again and settle into a different location.
Still, relocation gives affected guests access to accommodations with functioning water while crews address the problem.
Another Infrastructure Problem at Wilderness Lodge
The water outage comes just weeks after Disney’s Wilderness Lodge dealt with another significant infrastructure problem.
In mid-June, the main Wilderness Lodge building experienced a complete air-conditioning failure. That issue affected guest rooms and two restaurants for several days.
Less than two months later, the resort is now dealing with another major problem, although this latest outage has been reported at Boulder Ridge Villas.
That makes for an unfortunate stretch for one of Walt Disney World’s most recognizable resort destinations.

No Restoration Timeline Announced
For now, guests staying at Boulder Ridge should continue checking with Cast Members about their accommodations and available options.
There has been no reported explanation for what caused the outage or when normal water service will return.
Until repairs are completed, some guests may continue to face relocations or other disruptions.
A Disney World resort stay is supposed to serve as a home base between long days in the parks. For some Wilderness Lodge guests this weekend, however, an unexpected outage has turned their resort stay into another part of the vacation requiring a change of plans.
