Confirmed: Disney Park Will Undergo Massive Transformation From April
When Disney builds something new, fans around the world take notice. For decades, the company has used its theme parks as living testaments to imagination, layering nostalgia with innovation. From the original New Orleans Square in 1966 to the unveiling of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in 2019, each update has reflected Disney’s instinct for evolving alongside its audience while holding tight to its traditions.
Now, the transformation is accelerating on a global scale.
Disney is investing $60 billion into its theme parks and experiences over the coming years, reshaping not just Walt Disney World Resort but also international destinations like Shanghai Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, and Hong Kong Disneyland. Expansions range from a Tropical Americas land at Animal Kingdom to new concepts at Magic Kingdom and beyond.
While Tokyo Disney Resort sits outside this major spending plan due to its ownership by The Oriental Land Company, that hasn’t stopped Japan’s celebrated resort from staging an ambitious future of its own.
Fantasy Springs Paved the Way
Earlier this year, Tokyo DisneySea opened Fantasy Springs, a fairytale-inspired land based on Frozen, Tangled, and Peter Pan. The addition was hailed as a triumph of detail, bolstering the park’s reputation as a destination unlike any other.
Tokyo Disneyland, meanwhile, is preparing for a new Space Mountain and Disney’s first-ever Wreck-It Ralph attraction. These developments show that even outside Disney’s central investment umbrella, the Japanese resort is determined to stay at the forefront of immersive design.
The focus is already shifting to the next chapter: Tokyo DisneySea’s 25th anniversary.
Beginning April 15, 2026, and running through March 31, 2027, the park will host the Sparkling Jubilee, a year-long celebration that underscores why it is frequently described as the best Disney park in the world. Known as the company’s only ocean-themed park, Tokyo DisneySea has chosen “jubilee blue” as the motif for its milestone. The color, meant to capture the beauty of the ocean, will guide both the décor and the spirit of the event.
A Festival Across the Park
Guests can expect ornate decorations and atmospheric touches across the park, from immersive light effects to elaborate designs that transform the space into something more than a traditional anniversary event. Mediterranean Harbor will serve as the centerpiece, where Disney characters outfitted in Jubilee Blue will perform a new entertainment program designed specifically for the milestone.
Another highlight will be “Dance the Globe,” a stage show debuting January 14, 2026, in American Waterfront’s Waterfront Park. The production will spotlight global music and dance while incorporating beloved characters including Mirabel, Rapunzel, and Hiro. It’s a show designed to blend cultural diversity with Disney’s signature spectacle, underscoring the anniversary’s international flair.
Food and merchandise will round out the celebration. Restaurants and limited-edition food wagons will offer themed menus tied to the Sparkling Jubilee. The Tokyo DisneySea Food & Wine Festival, smaller in scale than EPCOT’s renowned version, will also return during the anniversary period, offering another draw for fans eager to sample something unique. Guests can further commemorate the milestone with exclusive merchandise, including Jubilee Blue badges and a 25th anniversary collection from Duffy & Friends.
Tokyo DisneySea’s decision to mark its 25th year with such scale highlights the resort’s unique place in Disney’s global portfolio. Owned and operated outside of Disney’s direct corporate umbrella, the resort has long been admired for its design, storytelling, and commitment to quality. With Fantasy Springs fresh in the spotlight and an ocean of new experiences on the way, the Sparkling Jubilee signals that Tokyo DisneySea has no plans of slowing down its transformation.
