Disney research and development teams have been working hard on a new wireless charging technology. This technology would allow devices to be charged without cords or even being placed on a wireless base. Guests would be able to enter a room where their devices would be in charging mode while they are in that room. This would allow Disney to create these rooms in various locations around the theme parks where guests could sit and relax while they charge their devices.
Disney calls the technology “Quasistatic Cavity Resonance” or QSCR. This would create a magnetic field from electrically charging the walls, floor and ceiling of the room. This technology would be able to charge 320 devices at one time. There would be no safety issues associated with this charging method, so it has been tested as safe for guests to be exposed to and say goodbye to carrying cords with them.
Disney hasn’t announced details yet about how or when they will launch this feature. We don’t know if Disney will charge for admission and/or where they will look to place these rooms at the parks yet. We will keep you posted as we learn more about this new feature and when we can expect to see it at Walt Disney World.
