Disney Makes Unexpected Change to Mickey’s Halloween Party for 2025

If there’s one thing Disney knows how to do, it’s turn an already magical event into something even more memorable.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom has been a fan favorite for years, drawing guests from all over the world for a night of costumes, candy, and carefully crafted spooky fun. But this year, Disney has slipped in a change that’s going to make your 2025 Halloween party photos look better than ever.

A Party Worth Planning For

For the uninitiated, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is no ordinary park visit—it’s a separately ticketed event running select nights from August 15 to October 31. Guests can enter as early as 4 p.m., giving them plenty of time to enjoy the park before the party officially kicks off at 7 p.m.

From there, it’s a whirlwind of entertainment: trick-or-treat stations scattered across the park, exclusive character meet-and-greets, specialty snacks, and live shows that bring some of Disney’s most famous villains to the forefront.

The atmosphere is half the fun. Main Street, U.S.A., gets decked out in pumpkins, garlands, and flickering lights, while the sound of eerie music drifts through the air. And because attendance is capped, wait times for rides are often far shorter than a normal day—making it possible to enjoy both the special party offerings and your favorite attractions without the usual rush.

Fan-Favorite Entertainment

Guests return year after year for signature moments like Mickey’s Boo-to-You Halloween Parade, which once again will step off at 8:15 p.m. This parade blends cute and creepy, featuring characters like Pain & Panic from Hercules, Vanellope from Wreck-It Ralph, and of course, Mickey and Minnie in their Halloween best.

On the Castle Forecourt Stage, the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular brings the Sanderson Sisters face-to-face with iconic Disney Villains. Then, as the night nears its end, Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular fireworks light up the skies, with Jack Skellington serving as the perfect ghostly host.

The Sweet Side of the Party

Of course, no Halloween party would be complete without candy, and Disney delivers in spades. Over a dozen treat trails offer Mars Wrigley favorites like M&M’s, Snickers, and Starburst, while allergy-friendly options are also available. Each guest—yes, even adults—gets a complimentary treat bag to fill to the brim.

Costumes are encouraged (within Disney’s guidelines), and it’s not unusual to see elaborate family ensembles inspired by everything from Haunted Mansion ghosts to Toy Story aliens.

The Big Change for 2025

So what’s different this year? Disney PhotoPass is rolling out a refreshed lineup of Magic Shots for the event—some returning favorites and some brand-new options. Guests will find PhotoPass photographers stationed around the park offering unique, Halloween-themed photo effects.

Returning hits like the Oogie Boogie Moon, Lonesome Ghosts, and Halloween Balloons are back, but the big additions for 2025 are the Haunted Mansion Collage and the Spooky Cauldron. Imagine standing in front of the Haunted Mansion and having a ghostly montage of the attraction layered into your shot, or holding a bubbling cauldron of mysterious magic. These effects create keepsakes that feel completely tied to the party’s spooky atmosphere.

Why It Matters

While it might not seem like the kind of change that makes headlines, these photo opportunities are a big part of what makes the party special. They capture the details—the costumes, the smiles, the magic—that you can revisit long after the night ends. For guests who have attended before, these new shots offer something fresh to look forward to, and for first-timers, they’re a chance to make the evening even more memorable.

With tickets already selling fast for certain dates, now’s the time to decide if you’ll be part of the fun. One thing’s for sure—between the new Magic Shots, the returning shows, and the unbeatable atmosphere, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in 2025 is shaping up to be anything but ordinary.
