Disney Guests Swear Off Resort Coffee Makers After Viral “Hack” Surfaces
If you have ever stayed at a Disney Resort hotel, you know the scene. You stumble back from a long day at Magic Kingdom or EPCOT, kick off your sneakers, and eye that little Keurig on the counter like it is your best friend. One quick cup of coffee before fireworks or one early morning brew before rope drop can feel like survival.

Now imagine learning that some guests are allegedly using that same machine to wash their dirty underwear.
Yes. This is where we are.
A viral video making the rounds on Reddit and Facebook groups claims travelers can clean their underwear inside the in room Keurig, then dry it with the hotel hair dryer. The woman in the video reportedly calls it “genius” and insists people do it all the time. The internet, as you might expect, has opinions.
The Reddit Post That Set Off Alarm Bells

The conversation reignited after a Reddit user shared this reaction:
“Keurig machines in the rooms. Just saw the video of the woman telling people to put their dirty underwear inside the Keurig to clean it and then use the hair dryer to dry it. She said it’s genius and that people do it all the time. With all the Deluxe Resorts having Keurig machines in the rooms, how do you think Disney will react to this? I certainly don’t feel like I will be comfortable using one the next time I’m at Disney and see one in the room.”
That last line is what hits hardest. Not comfortable using one.
On a Disney food blog, we spend a lot of time talking about snacks, specialty drinks, refillable mugs, and resort amenities. Coffee matters to guests. It is part of the rhythm of a park day. If even a fraction of visitors begin side eyeing that Keurig, it changes the vibe.
The Internet Reacts, And It Is Not Pretty

Responses ranged from disbelief to pure horror.
One commenter wrote, “I’ve heard this before in other groups. I have no idea why anyone would do this. Pack more underwear? Use the provided laundry facilities? Go without? All better options than washing some panties in a coffee machine. I have no idea if this is real or an urban legend situation.”
Another chimed in with a story that suggests this “hack” has been around for years. “The admins at my father’s job swore by this ‘hack’ back before hacks were a thing. They seemed serious when they recommended it to me as a teen so at least a few people have done this and have been doing it since before the internet.”
Then things escalated.
“Husband is pilot. He just commented last week that he overheard 2 flight attendants talking about ‘sterilizing’ their adult rear-entry toys in the coffee maker. One had apparently forgot to get it out before the flight that morning.”
And, because the internet cannot help itself, someone added: “Caffeinate your private parts…”
If you just made a face, you are not alone.
What This Means for Disney Resort Guests

Let’s be honest. Even if this is not widespread, the thought alone is enough to make some guests swear off in room coffee makers forever.
One person in the thread said exactly that. “So anyway I never touch in-room coffee makers. Ever. Even if it was just those two women, that’s two too many out there.”
For families spending thousands on a Walt Disney World vacation, that kind of doubt matters. Disney Resorts trade on trust. Guests assume a high standard of cleanliness. The idea that someone might be running undergarments through a machine meant for brewing beverages undercuts that sense of comfort.
It can also subtly change how people plan their trips. Some may bring their own coffee pods and run extra water cycles before using the machine. Others might skip it altogether. And yes, some will probably screenshot this story and send it to their entire travel party.
There Is Absolutely No Reason To Do This
Here is the part that makes this even more baffling. Walt Disney World Resort hotels already offer laundry facilities. Self service laundry rooms are available across Value, Moderate, and Deluxe Resorts. You can wash and dry clothing properly, using machines that are actually designed for that purpose.
If you run short on essentials, there are nearby stores off property. One commenter pointed out that Ross locations close to Disney sell affordable underwear, swimsuits, and basics year round. “For your future peace of mind, there are several Ross stores close to Disney property. In addition to underwear, bras, shoes, and clothes, they carry swimsuits year-round. A quick trip to Ross, and a quick wash in the sink, and you’re good to go.”
That is a far more logical solution than turning a Keurig into a makeshift washing machine.
Keurig devices heat and dispense water. They are not built to sanitize fabric. They are not meant to handle detergent or clothing fibers. Using them this way is not clever. It is unsanitary and could damage equipment that hundreds of future guests rely on.
If you are heading to Walt Disney World soon, here is the simplest advice possible. Pack enough underwear. Use the laundry rooms if you need them. Leave the coffee maker alone.
And if someone in your Facebook group shares that “genius” hack, maybe remind them that Disney magic should never involve rinsing your underwear where someone else is about to brew their morning coffee.
