Disney Removes Hotel Guest Benefit as New Theme Park Era Begins

One Disney park has confirmed a last-minute change to one of its most relied-upon hotel perks, altering how guests will experience a major opening day in March.

The adjustment affects Extra Magic Time and applies to a single date. Even so, it lands on one of the resort’s most significant milestones in years, reshaping expectations for guests planning to visit during the debut.

Extra Magic Time Pulled for Key Opening Day

Disneyland Paris has updated its operating schedule to confirm that Extra Magic Time will not be offered at Disney Adventure World on March 29, 2026. The date marks the official rebrand of Walt Disney Studios Park into Disney Adventure World.

The same day also coincides with the opening of World of Frozen, a new land inspired by Frozen. The expansion includes Frozen Ever After (with its version said to be closer to the ride found at EPCOT rather than Hong Kong Disneyland), Nordic Crowns Tavern, and multiple Frozen-themed retail locations.

Extra Magic Time typically allows Disney hotel guests early access to the park, offering lighter crowds and shorter waits. At Disneyland Paris, the perk has long been positioned as a key benefit of staying on property.

On March 29, that advantage will be removed. All guests will enter the park at the same time, regardless of hotel status, eliminating staggered access on opening day.

Disney has not cited a specific reason for the change. Opening-day demand is expected to be high, and limiting early entry may help manage crowd flow and operational pressure during the rebrand launch.

Without Extra Magic Time, guests will enter Disney Adventure World at 9:30 a.m. The park is scheduled to remain open until 10:40 p.m., with the debut performance of Disney Cascade of Lights closing the night.

Extra Magic Time is currently scheduled to resume on March 30. Disney has not indicated whether that plan could change closer to the date.

What’s Opening — and What Comes Next

World of Frozen is the headline addition, but it is only part of the park’s broader transformation. Disney Adventure World is now organized around Adventure Way, a landscaped promenade connecting attractions, dining, and gardens to Adventure Bay.

The park’s new nighttime offering, Disney Cascade of Lights, anchors Adventure Bay, with a combination of projections and drones bringing to life scenes from the likes of Moana and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Several existing areas remain central to the park’s lineup. Avengers Campus – which features Avengers Assemble: Flight Force and Spider-Man W.E.B. Adventure – continues to attract crowds, while Worlds of Pixar offers family-friendly attractions, including a full Toy Story land.

The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror remains one of the park’s flagship thrill rides. Ratatouille: The Adventure is currently closed for refurbishment, temporarily reducing ride capacity during the relaunch period.

Disney has also confirmed plans for a future land inspired by The Lion King (1994). Fans have theorized that it will also receive a possible Avatar-themed expansion, though no formal announcement has been made.

Despite the investment, the park carries lingering perception issues. Walt Disney Studios Park has long been criticized for limited attractions, weak dining options, and a lack of immersive theming compared with Disneyland Park.
