Disney Erases History of Original Frontierland at the Magic Kingdom
As Piston Peak National Park takes shape at the Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World Resort has literally bulldozed the history of the original Frontierland area.
Piston Peak National Park
At D23 Expo 2024, Walt Disney Imagineering announced plans to add a Cars (2006) area to Frontierland at Magic Kingdom Park. Known as Piston Peak National Park, the new mini-land is inspired by the natural landscapes of America’s national parks.

Piston Peak National Park will include two Cars attractions, unlike the ones in Cars Land at Disney California Adventure Park: a thrilling rally race and a family-friendly ride.
In 2025, the Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Liberty Square Riverboat closed to make way for Piston Peak National Park. Crews later drained the waterway, removed the Liberty Belle, bulldozed Tom Sawyer Island, and flattened the landscape to make way for the new Cars area.
Now, Piston Peak National Park is going vertical.
Frontierland Construction Goes Vertical at Magic Kingdom

On March 18, WDWNT shared an update on the construction of Piston Peak National Park in Frontierland at Magic Kingdom Park. For the first time since crews poured concrete in the area, a new white structure is visible behind the construction walls:
Disney cast members were visibly working on the structure, which appears to be composed of several white wooden walls supported by triangular brackets. It towers above the construction walls, but not as high as the nearby pile of dirt that replaced Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America.
The pile of dirt could be associated with Piston Peak National Park, but could also be used for the developing Disney Villains land under construction in the area “beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.”

Walt Disney World Resort has not announced a grand opening date for Piston Peak National Park or the Disney Villains land at the Magic Kingdom.

Well, I hate that the new people in charge are where there was the American Jew that was in charge. That decided to put alcohol in magic kingdom. When it’s supposed to be the most magical place on earth for children, even people like me. The 61 years old and I do drink beer but I don’t think drinking in the land of Disney or at least in the magic kingdom should not have no alcohol. Available at no time, they already been had enough problems with fights and stuff. Going on? I mean, what else do you want? But that’s just one man’s opinion. And if they trying to take care of all racial stuff, they said that Disney was racial. So why don’t they just tear the whole place down? I mean, bulldoze it down and make it back in the swamp for alligators, in natural resources that Florida was known for the Florida panther. Things like that. Let them live there are gods great creations, not a bunch of X.
