Disney Dining Review of Artist’s Palette in Disney’s Saratoga Springs
There is so much to do at Walt Disney World Resort. You do not have to be at a park to enjoy a little Disney “magic”! One of my favorite stops is Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa. Fondly referred to as Saratoga, this resort is ½ beauty and ½ beast. Opened in 2004, the beauty is overwhelming. Built on a theme of Saratoga Springs, NY, you will feel transported back to the good ol’ days complete with a feeling that you are going to see the races later on. You will delight in the resort’s many hidden Mickey’s and marvel at the horses you can find throughout the property. The beast part of the resort is it’s sheer size, coming in at 65 acres. Saratoga Springs is also a member of the Disney Vacation Club, so many WDW guests who are not members of DVC do not choose this quieter option. If you have never been to Saratoga Springs, you are missing a true dining gem!
Even though it is a huge resort, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa only has two dining options and they located side by side in the main lobby (there are two stands by the pools, but they only offer snacks). The Turf Club Bar and Grill is the resort’s only table service restaurant. I highly recommend finding a review on our site and following your taste buds to Saratoga Springs, but they are only open for dinner. You will also find one of WDW’s best DVC merchandise stores along with many other Saratoga exclusive items. For the golfers, you are merely steps away from the Lake Buena Vista Clubhouse. It is simply down the hallway! And, for those of you that like to relax, Senses, the spa is brand new and ready to pamper you! Even with all of these wonderful options at Saratoga, one of my must dos is actually the quick service restaurant, The Artist’s Palette.
Offering breakfast, lunch and dinner, you will also find a nice snack selection. The refrigerated section also offers frozen meals, snacks like mini cakes, veggies with dip and small grab and go items ranging from some grapes to entire sandwiches. There is also a Wine Cabinet that offers a wider variety of selection than other resorts. You can also find beer and harder liquor (just ask if you don’t see what you want, sometimes the cast members have some small bottles behind the register). In the mood for baked items? They are baked daily and you will delight over cupcakes and cookies and other delicious treats!
The true stars of the show are the cast members cooking up your order. Many quick service locations offer the standard hamburger or chicken nuggets (which are great if that is what you want! And keep in mind that you can get nuggets for the kiddies!) But, The Artist’s Palette offers tasty choices you might not expect from quick service. One of my stand out favorites is the Saratoga Salad with Chicken Field Greens, Ocean Spray® Craisins®, Dried Blueberries, Apples, Honey-Roasted Walnuts, Lemon-Poppy Seed Dressing, and Crispy Ciabatta Croutons. ($9.29) This salad is so unbelievable fresh and tasty, I promise you’ll ask for some dressing to go! Maybe you’ll go with the huge selection of freshly baked flatbread pizzas? My personal favorite is the Chicken, Spinach, and Artichoke Flatbread ($10.69), but my husband cannot leave the Orlando area without stopping by for the Barbecue Pork Flatbread – Pulled Pork, Barbecue Sauce, Smoked Gouda, Cheddar Cheese, and Red Onion topped with Pineapple-Cilantro Slaw ($ 10.69). his only complaint is that the size of the flatbread rarely matches his king sized hunger.

Sandwich selections will also have you in a decision crisis because each looks better than the next. Compromise with a loved one and order two to share! You will be overwhelmed by selections like Bistro Buffalo Chicken Panini-Pulled Chicken, Buffalo Sauce, Blue Cheese, Carrots, and Celery on a Ciabatta Roll with House-made Chips or Vegetable Slaw ($10.99). Just be careful because the buffalo sauce has a slight bite! Maybe you’ll choose the Lobster Club Sandwich -Lobster Salad, Smoked Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, and Lemon Mayonnaise with House-made Chips or Vegetable Slaw ($12.99) I like this option because I like to try items that I won’t often find in my own kitchen and the lobster salad is AH-YUM-Azing! Plus, they put bacon on it…SOLD! Another awesome choice is the Open-face Roast Beef Sandwich with Mashed Potatoes and Gravy ($9.99). This is as delicious as it is SMOTHERED.
Another great feature is the soup selection, with yummy selections like chicken corn chowder, potato cheese and ham, beefy minestrone and homemade chili. (soup and chili starts at $2.79-$3.49). Cute selections for the 12 and under crowd include Mickey-shaped Ravioli, mac and cheese and a jr. turkey sandwich. All are $5.99 and served with grapes and carrot sticks. The kids will also enjoy the artist easels at every table complete with crayons to make their very own masterpieces. Call over a cast member to display your child’s art work that will hang on the wall all day!
For my palate, a trip to The Artist’s Palette is a Disney must do! From the comforting soups, to the wide selection of freshly fired flatbreads, fresh salads and monster sandwiches…your taste buds will be inspired by the fresh artwork!
F.A.S.T Review
Food: Freshly made options that are quite a bit better than some other quick service locations. Everyone in your family will be happy with fresh salads, homemade soups, over-stuffed sandwiches and freshly baked flatbread pizzas. This food will paint your taste buds a beautiful picture!
Atmosphere: Beautifully whimsical with a large seating area. Every table has its own easel and palette to turn your child (or you!) into a dining Picasso! You will enjoy looking through the store that shares the same space and will find rare DVC merchandise! The restaurant also has a small seating area outside that overlooks the High Rock Springs Pool…beautiful!
Service: Cast members are happy to take your order and begin cooking up your delights. You pay at a separate station and will receive a number to take to your table if you order hot menu items. It is service with a smile!
Tips: Try something outside of your comfort zone! There are so many choices and if you are not totally happy, tell a cast member. They want you to be happy! If you are staying at Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa, bring your refillable mug. This is where you can fill up! Try to find seating along the outside edges of the seating area, some inside booth or table spots can be quite crammed. This restaurant accepts the Disney Dining Plan and will count as a Quick Service meal.
