Disney Unveils New Logo Reflecting Major Cultural Shift in the Company
On Monday, The Walt Disney Company quietly revealed that it would revamp Disneyland Resort’s logo for the 70th anniversary of the original Disney park. The leak came as part of a larger set of announcements regarding D23 Day at Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, and the Downtown Disney district.
D23 Day at Disneyland Resort is on August 8, 2024, one day before D23 Expo 2024 kicks off just steps down the road. The largest Disney fan event worldwide promises exciting announcements about and celebrations of The Walt Disney Company’s movies, theme parks, technology, and more.
On Monday, Disney Parks Blog revealed that all guests, including non-D23 members and those not attending the ultimate fan convention, can take advantage of the one-day celebration. Exciting offerings include a themed cavalcade at 12:15 p.m. in Disneyland Park, which will feature 23 beloved characters and visiting Disney Legends.
Rare characters, including Lots-o’-Huggin’ Bear and Max Goof, will meet and greet with guests throughout Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. Stitch and other pals will groove with guests during a dance party at Tomorrowland Terrace from 1:00-6:00 p.m. From 7:00 p.m. through 11:00 p.m., musical group Suburban Legends will play multiple scheduled live sets.
It wouldn’t be a special theme park event without exclusive merchandise. Souvenirs celebrating the 25th anniversary of Tarzan (1999) will debut at Disneyana at Disneyland Park, Off the Page at Disney California Adventure Park, and WonderGround Gallery at the Downtown Disney District. D23 Day-themed souvenirs will be available at locations throughout the Disney Resort.
Other offerings include a PhotoPass Magic Shot, a commemorative guide, art installations, photo opportunities, and complimentary PhotoPass photos. A new version of Princess Ariel based on a Disney Junior show will debut as part of the Disney Jr. Let’s Play! Party at Disney California Adventure Park.
The new Disneyland Resort logo is featured on a series of collectible silver medallions, available only from August 8-11. Find them at Candy Palace and Candy Kitchen in Disneyland Park, Kingswell Shop at Disney California Adventure Park, and near the Downtown Disney LIVE! Stage and lawn at the Downtown Disney District.
Disney Parks fans quickly noticed that Disney Parks Blog gave a first look at the Disneyland70 design. It features a new version of Mickey Mouse.
