Disney Closes Jungle Cruise, Barricades Ride Entrance

Construction walls now surround the Jungle Cruise entrance at Disneyland Resort after the attraction closed Tuesday, February 17, for indefinite refurbishment.

Disney cast members installed barriers blocking access to the Adventureland ride within 24 hours of the closure. WDWNT posted a photo on Facebook showing the barricaded entrance.

Disneyland Resort has not provided a timeline for the Jungle Cruise’s return or explained what work is being performed. The park’s official calendar extends through the end of March 2026, with the attraction listed as closed throughout that period.

Whether the refurbishment involves visible changes to the 70-year-old ride or routine maintenance behind the scenes remains unclear. Disneyland Resort has made no public statements about the project’s scope.

The Jungle Cruise opened alongside Disneyland Park on July 17, 1955. The eight-minute boat ride originally educated guests about Asian, African, and South American wildlife using realistic animal audio-animatronics and cultural artifacts. Over the decades, it transformed into the joke-laden adventure that Disney Park guests know today.

Success at Disneyland led to the development of Jungle Cruise attractions at Walt Disney World Resort‘s Magic Kingdom Park, Tokyo Disney Resort’s Tokyo Disneyland, and Hong Kong Disneyland. With Disneyland Resort’s version closed, fans must visit those Disney parks to experience the attraction—or watch the 2021 film adaptation starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Emily Blunt.

The lack of a reopening date leaves visitors planning Disneyland Resort trips without clarity about whether Jungle Cruise will be available during their vacations. Disney’s refusal to provide a completion estimate suggests either that the timeline is uncertain or that the company wants flexibility to extend the closure if needed.
