Disney Changes Early Entry Ahead of Complete Cancellation Next Year

Disneyland Resort is preparing for a season of fun and a few operational adjustments that guests will want to note. With the return of the Halloween Half Marathon Weekend, scheduled for September 4 through 7, 2025, the Early Entry benefit will temporarily adjust to accommodate the festivities.

On Friday, September 5, Early Entry will be hosted at Disneyland Park, and on Saturday, September 6, the perk will instead take place at Disney California Adventure Park. After the races conclude, Early Entry will return to its familiar pattern: Disneyland Park typically welcomes resort hotel guests early on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, while Disney California Adventure offers the same opportunity on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

These shifts come as part of the runDisney race calendar, which has been a highlight since its return to the West Coast. However, the program is entering its final stretch for now. Following the Halloween Half Marathon Weekend, the races will conclude with the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend from January 29 to February 1, 2026, before pausing again to allow for construction across the resort.

Early Entry itself, introduced in 2021, has been a beloved benefit for Disneyland Resort hotel guests, granting them access to the parks thirty minutes before general admission. That perk will officially come to a close on January 5, 2026. In its place, guests will receive one Lightning Lane pass per person, a change that will shape the way resort stays are experienced moving forward.

These developments arrive during an exciting moment in the resort’s history. Disneyland is celebrating its 70th anniversary while also preparing for an ambitious future. Projects like DisneylandForward, the expansion of Avengers Campus, and the introduction of an Avatar-inspired experience are paving the way for what’s next.

For now, these small but important adjustments highlight how the resort continues to evolve. Guests planning a visit in the coming months will want to take advantage of Early Entry while it lasts and prepare for new ways to enjoy hotel benefits in the near future.

He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his… More »
