Disney Starts Limiting Access To Unpopular Cars Ride
Operations are changing for one of Disney’s most unpopular attractions.
Theme parks rarely stay static, especially at Disney resorts. Attractions open, close, and quietly evolve as parks respond to guest demand, operational challenges, and long-term expansion plans.
At Disneyland Paris, those changes are increasingly visible. The resort’s second gate — Walt Disney Studios Park — is undergoing one of the most dramatic transformations in its history.

The park originally opened in 2002 with a studio theme focused on filmmaking and behind-the-scenes effects. Over time, Disney shifted away from that concept, introducing more traditional themed lands and intellectual property-driven attractions.
That transition is now accelerating.
Beginning March 29, Walt Disney Studios Park will adopt a new identity as Disney Adventure World. The change reflects a broader effort to reshape the park around immersive lands rather than film production.
New attractions are already taking shape.
World of Frozen will anchor the park’s next phase, bringing Arendelle to life with a large-scale expansion. The area is expected to include a Frozen-themed boat ride, new restaurants, and a redesigned central lake known as Adventure Bay.

More projects are already planned.
Raiponce Tangled Spin — a spinning attraction inspired by Tangled (2010) — will join the park’s lineup in the coming years. The ride will draw comparisons to the classic Mad Tea Party, featuring lantern-themed vehicles.
Disney is also preparing a nighttime spectacular titled Disney Cascade of Lights. The show will combine drones, water screens, fountains, and fireworks above Adventure Bay.
Another future expansion will introduce a full land inspired by The Lion King (1994). The project is expected to include a Pride Rock attraction with flume-style elements reminiscent of Splash Mountain.
Amid these sweeping changes, some existing attractions are quietly adjusting their operations.
Disneyland Paris Limits Hours for Cars ROAD TRIP
Disneyland Paris has begun closing Cars ROAD TRIP earlier than the rest of Walt Disney Studios Park.
The attraction, which replaced the long-running Studio Tram Tour: Behind the Magic, has faced criticism from guests since opening.
Many visitors have argued that it “barely qualifies as a ride,” with others calling it a “waste of space” within the park.

Cars ROAD TRIP is themed to the world of Cars, Pixar’s 2006 animated film that introduced Lightning McQueen and the fictional town of Radiator Springs.
According to reports shared online, the attraction will “close earlier than planned during these coming days to facilitate the management of visitor flow.”
Photos from the park show barriers placed near the entrance during evening hours. Cast members have been stationed nearby while signage informs guests that “Cars ROAD TRIP is closed for the evening.”
The attraction itself has not permanently closed.

Guests can still ride earlier in the day. The operational change simply removes it from the park’s nighttime offerings.
The Long Theme Park Journey of Cars
Despite mixed reception in Paris, Cars remains one of Disney’s most enduring theme park brands.
The original film premiered in 2006 and quickly became a major commercial success for Pixar. The story — centered on Lightning McQueen learning humility in a quiet desert town — sparked multiple sequels and a massive merchandise empire.
Disney soon expanded the franchise into its parks.
The most famous example is Cars Land at Disney California Adventure. The area faithfully recreates Radiator Springs with towering desert rock formations and neon-lit storefronts.
Its flagship attraction, Radiator Springs Racers, combines storytelling scenes with a high-speed outdoor race.
The land also includes Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree and Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters, both of which remain popular with guests.

The franchise will soon expand again at Walt Disney World.
Magic Kingdom is preparing a new Cars-inspired area inside Frontierland. The upcoming project will use the Piston Peak concept, blending national park aesthetics with the world of Pixar’s racing franchise.
In Paris, however, the franchise has taken a more modest form.
Cars Quatre Roues Rallye offers a simple spinning ride experience. Cars ROAD TRIP, meanwhile, remains the park’s primary Cars-themed attraction.
For now, it continues operating — just on a slightly shorter schedule.
Have you ever experienced Cars ROAD TRIP?
