Disneyland Theme Park Goes Into Meltdown Mode, Guests Scramble for Answers

Disney California Adventure Park guests recently found themselves caught in a whirlwind of ride breakdowns, leading to a chaotic day at the park. For many families, it felt as if the Disneyland Resort theme park had gone into meltdown mode, with one attraction after another failing, leaving them frustrated and scrambling for answers.

On July 24, Redditor u/fryeguy2020 shared their experience at Disney California Adventure Park, describing it as a “crazy day” after encountering one breakdown after another. “We got either stuck on the ride, or were next in line on the ride when it broke, SIX times!!” they wrote.

The day started with trouble on the Incredicoaster, where the group had a Lightning Lane but couldn’t board due to technical difficulties. It all went downhill from there:

“It started to become comical. We had a lightning lane for the Incredicoaster, but there were people stuck on it so we went the California Zephyr. It broke down as we were next. Then went to Goofy’s flight school. Again broke down right before it was our turn. Then went on Webslingers, got stuck on the ride. Then went on Soaring, got stuck on the ride right at the end of the flight. Then went on the Toy Story Midway ride, I joked about ‘wouldn’t it be funny if went down while we were on it’ and damn if it didn’t right after the first game.”

The frustration continued for another guest, u/EscapeGoat81, who recounted their own day at the park:

“We had fun – but the rides had lots of issues. Incredicoaster was down all day. Radiator Springs didn’t open on time. Throughout the day, we saw almost every other ride break down. You definitely need to pack your patient pants!”

Other visitors shared similar experiences at different Disney parks. u/HiLLCoUnTrYHiLLbiLLy posted about their experience at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort on the same day:

“Ironically we had the same kind of day at Disney World Hollywood Studios on the same Thursday. Thankfully our other days at the park were successful. But Thursday at Hollywood Studios was a great disappointment. I really feel like we should be compensated for a redo but I am guessing that isn’t a thing. Even the final show Fantasmic went wrong and got canceled. We went in early to get a seat and after 5 minutes it was over. Sorry that happened to y’all. It stinks.”

Disneyland Resort has yet to issue a statement regarding the operational challenges faced at Disney California Adventure Park on July 24. While ride malfunctions are a regular part of park operations and are usually resolved within a few hours, the frequency of issues experienced that day is exceedingly rare.
