Thousands Locked Out of Disney California Adventure Building, Future Uncertain
A long-standing preschool show has officially ceased operations inside Disney California Adventure Park, leaving young families searching for alternatives. Disney Park guests are locked out of the large Hollywood Land theater where it once performed.
Disney Jr Dance Party!, the high-energy stage show designed for preschoolers to interact with their favorite Disney Junior characters, has closed permanently. The attraction held its final performance on Sunday, March 23, with Disneyland Resort confirming the news the following day.
Disney California Adventure Says Goodbye
Earlier this month, Disney quietly removed all scheduled Disney Junior Dance Party! showtimes from its website. Disney Parks fans took notice, speculating that this marked the end of the Hollywood Land show’s seven-year run.
Theme park journalist Scott Gustin (@scottgustin) shared the update on X (formerly Twitter), writing:

As of Monday, guests can no longer enter the theater space located in Hollywood Land at Disney California Adventure Park. The closure marks the end of an era of preschool-friendly entertainment at the resort and leaves a notable gap in offerings for the youngest visitors.
The show originally debuted in 2017 and quickly became a favorite among toddlers and their families. Before that, the venue hosted Disney Junior – Live on Stage!, which featured a similar lineup of animated favorites. Over the years, Disney Jr Dance Party! rotated characters from hit shows like Fancy Nancy, Vampirina, The Lion Guard, Mickey and the Roadster Racers, Sofia the First, and Doc McStuffins.
A New Chapter Ahead
While Disneyland Resort has confirmed that a new show will eventually replace Disney Junior Dance Party!, the company has not released a title, theme, or timeline for the replacement. The only official update is that it will debut “later this year.”
The show’s closure coincides with the lead-up to Disneyland Resort’s 70th anniversary, which begins May 16. As part of the celebration, Disney California Adventure Park is preparing to launch multiple offerings, including the all-new “World of Color – ONE: Happiness” nighttime spectacular, the return of the Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration! parade, and a refreshed Toy Story Midway Mania! attraction in Pixar Pier.
Whether the upcoming stage show will tie into the anniversary festivities or spotlight new Disney Junior properties is unknown.
