Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge (originally known as Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge) is set to be the newest Disney Vacation Club (DVC) Resort at Walt Disney World Resort. This Deluxe Disney Resort hotel is scheduled to open on the former site of Disney’s River Country Water Park in 2027. It will feature 900 rooms inspired by Bambi (1942), Brother Bear (2003), The Fox and the Hound (1981), and Pocahontas (1995), as well as a restaurant inspired by The Princess and the Frog (2009).

On November 17, a fight at the construction site for Walt Disney World Resort’s Lakeshore Lodge left one employee hospitalized and another charged with felony assault. WDW Active Crime obtained a police report detailing the incident, which went down shortly after noon on Monday.

According to the report, deputies responded to reports of an unconscious man at 4600 Big Pine Road, the Disney-owned site of the future Lakeshore Lodge. They found multiple construction employees restraining the attacker, identified as Gerardo, in a golf cart, to prevent him from fleeing. The injured employee, identified as Yosef, was immediately transported to the Orlando Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Gerardo, who was assigned to the 7th floor of the building, told deputies that he and Yosef got into an argument. He claimed Yosef reached for a hammer, which prompted him to wrestle it away from him. Gerardo admitted to punching Yosef multiple times in the process. He also showed deputies a cut on his right index finger obtained during the struggle, but refused medical treatment.

However, another construction site employee’s video footage told a much different story than Gerardo’s. According to deputies, the video showed Gerardo pushing Yosef, who did not retaliate. Gerardo reportedly kicked Yosef in the leg and placed him in a chokehold before throwing him to the ground.

Gerardo continued to punch Yosef repeatedly in the head and back and slammed Yosef’s head against the floor. In what appeared to be an attempt at self-defense, Yosef eventually stood up and pushed Gerardo away. However, Gerardo continued to shove Yosef before attempting to flee the scene. There was no sign of a hammer in the video, contradicting Gerardo’s claim that Yosef had reached for a tool amid a heated argument.

After reviewing the video and Gerardo’s statement, deputies determined he was the primary aggressor and arrested him for felony battery. He was transported to the Orange County Booking & Release Center (BRC).

Walt Disney World Resort reportedly banned Gerardo from its property as a result of the incident.

It’s unclear if the injured employee, Yosef, has been released from the hospital.
