Construction Vehicle Strikes “Boat Bridge” Between Contemporary and Magic Kingdom

By Cassie

A truck holding a piece of Construction equipment was moving slowly in front of me, approaching the “Boat Bridge that connects the waterways of the Contemporary Resort and Magic Kingdom.  It is also used for boat transportation for the Wilderness Lodge, Fort Wilderness Campground, and Contemporary resort with Magic Kingdom.  The driver was hesitant as he approached, seemingly unsure if he could make it under the bridge.  However, when it struck it did do some damage to the overpass as small pieces of concrete fell on impact.   We are unsure how much damage the bridge may have sustained as yet.  There was a ferry boat that crossed over top of the bridge shortly after the vehicle struck it.

It will undoubtedly snarl up traffic as this is the main roadway for buses exiting Magic Kingdom for the other parks and resorts, with the exception of Contemporary.  There is not enough room for buses to turn around in this area as the cars did.  There was no arrival of security to help with the traffic in the first ten minutes prior to me turning around and going another way.  Going out of the property on World Drive I saw only one bus and it was heading toward the Magic Kingdom.

It appears this overpass may have been struck before as the concrete in this same area is a different shade than that around it.  Hopefully it will turn out to be minor damage.

About Cassie

Cassie L. I am a lifelong Disney fan. I attended Walt Disney World in 1971, and was there during the opening week of EPCOT, and have visited the Disney Parks for than 30 times. I have had the privilege of visiting Disneyland as a child, and then again with my children. My family recently moved from the northeastern United States to the Walt Disney World area. I now have cast members in my family and enjoy hearing the magical stories at the end of a shift. I love visiting all of the parks and getting to try more Disney food and being able to share it with you to help you plan your own magical day at Disney.
