Cast Members Change EPCOT Attraction Ahead of Retheme

For more than four decades, EPCOT’s Living with the Land has invited guests to relax aboard a slow-moving boat tour through carefully crafted environments.

Nestled inside The Land Pavilion in World Nature, the attraction opened in 1982 and still highlights how agriculture and imagination can work side by side. The greenhouses remain a central highlight, where real research continues daily—hydroponics, aquaponics, and other growing techniques are on display, with fresh produce making its way to Garden Grill and Sunshine Seasons.

That spirit of innovation has always echoed EPCOT’s early ideals of stewardship, exploration, and sustainability. But a change is right around the corner. According to the official Walt Disney World website, “From November 28 to December 30, 2025, Living with the Land–Glimmering Greenhouses will be offered. During this time, Living with the Land will not be available.”

Recent reports reveal that Disney has already started decorating parts of the attraction in advance of the seasonal offering. Guests touring Living with the Land now may notice a transitional version—decorative lights, ornaments, and wreaths have appeared ahead of the Glimmering Greenhouses debut.

Living with the Land has returned to EPCOT headlines for another reason this season. During Halloween, a boat experienced an unexpected issue mid-ride, prompting Cast Members to safely evacuate guests. The event was shared online by TikTok user Wallandwfhatdisney and reached nearly 30,000 views in the first 24 hours.

The caption read: “Current situation. Boat in front of me started to sink and all occupants had to evacuate. We ended up chilling in our boat until cast members escorted us off and out the back. And people say living with the land is boring!!”

The video captured the boat tilting to one side, and as guests were guided backstage, viewers gained a glimpse of areas normally closed to the public. Situations like this are rare but serve as occasional reminders that technical issues can occur within any large resort. With social media so widespread, such moments are now quickly shared across the globe.

As Glimmering Greenhouses approaches, EPCOT visitors may see even more updates taking shape. Have you spotted changes—or experienced a ride evacuation before? Share your stories with us in the comments.

When he’s not thinking about the Magic Kingdom, Thomas is usually reading a book, becoming desperately obsessed with fictional characters, or baking something delicious (his favorite is chocolate cake -- to bake and to eat). He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his… More »
