Calling it Quits on the Antics at Whispering Canyon Cafe at Walt Disney World’s Wilderness Lodge

WE NEED KETCHUP! If you’ve ever visited Walt Disney World’s Whispering Canyon Cafe at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, chances are your experience was memorable to say the least. Not only are all three meals delicious here, but the Cast Members’ fun and mischievous attitudes make for a hilarious and memorable time for family and friends. From throwing straws, 20 bottles of ketchup coming to your table when you just need a few drops, a race around the restaurant on a wooden ponies, and Cast Members dishing out jokes and shenanigans – Disney confirmed yesterday in a tweet that Whispering Canyon is in fact going in a new direction.

Here is Disney’s confirmation via their Walt Disney World Today Twitter account in response to a tweet from KC Armstrong:

Apparently, the shift of atmosphere is due to complaints Whispering Canyon Cafe is receiving for their silly antics. Not everyone does as much research as one may suspect when dining at a location, so the antics are a surprise to some and not preferred by all.  The last time we dined at Whispering Canyon they offered us a coaster with a red and green side. If the red side was up, that was a sign that we didn’t want to partake in the silly fun. If the green side was up, it meant we were ready to play! This however must not have been enough of a change, as the complaints have now caused Whispering Canyon to drop their antics all together.

About Mike and Jamie Sylvester

We are Disney nerds. Two kids at heart who love the magic and the memories of Walt Disney World! We follow all things Disney and have great experiences with Disney Vacation Club and RunDisney events in particular. We enjoy the vacations, day trips, weekend getaways and geek out over the planning of such events. From lodging to dining to Fastpasses we have a spreadsheet for every occasion. Mike’s frivolous Disney goal is to acquire a magic band of every style while Jamie’s goal is to experience as many Disney desserts as possible. Usually there isn’t a day that passes without some discussion of the master plan of our next trip to the happiest place on earth. Most people think we’re normal – until they travel to Disney with us. We have been married for 15 years and are blessed with a daughter and a son who have already learned the importance of planning ahead! As a family we thoroughly enjoy the magic and the memories at Walt Disney World and are here to help others experience the magic as well.
