After 52 Years, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay Confirms Closure
Busch Gardens Tampa Bay has officially closed the book on one of its oldest attractions. After more than half a century of splashes and family memories, a ride that defined the Central Florida theme park for generations is gone.
Stanley Falls Flume Ride first opened in 1973, the same year Busch Gardens Tampa Bay transitioned from a botanical garden and animal preserve into a full-fledged theme park with amusement rides. For more than 52 years, the log flume was a go-to attraction for many guests, providing a refreshing break from the Central Florida sun.
In August, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay announced the opening-day attraction’s fate on Facebook. The Park wrote:

After more than 50 years of splashes, smiles, and summer memories, Stanley Falls Flume is taking its final plunge on September 7, 2025. As one of the original rides from the park’s opening in 1973, this classic has been a fan favorite for generations.
Pass Members and Fun Card holders, this is your last chance to ride before we say goodbye and make way for an exciting new future attraction! Come relive the fun and help us celebrate a true Busch Gardens legend.

Fans had one last opportunity to ride the log flume on Sunday, September 7, 2025. On Monday, September 8, Stanley Falls Flume Ride permanently closed after over five decades of operation.
On Thursday, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay teased that Stanley Falls Flume Ride was closing to make way for an “exciting new future attraction.”

However, no details about the attraction’s replacement have been revealed yet.
Though Stanley Falls Flume Ride is gone, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay continues to offer a wide range of experiences for theme park guests. Congo River Rapids still provides a chance to cool off, while roller coaster fanatics can turn to Iron Gwazi, Montu, and Cheetah Hunt for high-speed adventures.
