‘Buffy’ Could Be Heading to the Parks, but Will It Be Disney or Universal?

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is getting a long-awaited revival, but will the franchise ever find its way into theme parks?

If Buffy is going to make its way into Disney Parks, it won’t be through some massive expansion. This isn’t Marvel or Star Wars we’re talking about. Those are age-old juggernauts with mass appeal. Buffy is character-focused horror with cult appeal, and that calls for something more contained—and more creative.

Buffy doesn’t need a land, but it does need some sort of theme park presence.

How a Buffy-Themed Attraction Could Work at Disney

At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, there could be space for a narrative-driven experience that leans into atmosphere and suspense instead of the high-speed thrills you’d get on a roller coaster. A walk-through attraction based on Sunnydale High—complete with the Hellmouth and vampire encounters—would be a natural fit near Tower of Terror (AKA The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror).

Dimly lit school corridors, flickering locker rooms, shadowy classrooms, and timed lighting effects could build tension without relying on traditional ride mechanics. Audio-animatronics or screen projections could drop in key creatures from the show, while actors could take on the likes of Buffy, Giles, and Spike, delivering lines or warning guests of what terrifying monsters lie ahead.

The setup is simple: it’s part haunted house, part story showcase. Something dark and rooted deep in the Buffy lore. At the end, a themed retail corner could sell Sunnydale High yearbooks, stake-shaped souvenirs, and graphic novels. A hit with guests, no doubt.

Universal Studios Could Be a Better Fit for Buffy Than Disney

With all that said, Universal Studios might actually be the better thematic fit. Buffy doesn’t shy away from violence or darkness, and Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights already welcomes franchises like The Exorcist, Halloween, and Stranger Things.

A seasonal haunted house built around Sunnydale, with strobe lighting, narrow hallways, vampire actors, and ambient voiceovers from main characters, would fit seamlessly into the lineup. And unlike Disney, Universal wouldn’t have to tone it down for family appeal.

Either way, depending on how the new series performs, there could be a place for Buffy in the parks—but it’s about scale and tone. The franchise isn’t necessarily built for roller coasters or lands. What Buffy needs is a moody, story-led environment where the Slayer’s world can unfold slowly and creepily, but with plenty of bite.
