Walt Disney World to Charge Resort Guests for Overnight Parking

We have breaking news that will impact all of you out there who typically drive or have a rental car while staying at Walt Disney World.  Disney has officially confirmed that Walt Disney World Resort will begin charging resort guests a fee for overnight parking.  This charge will be on all resort reservations that are made after March 21st, 2018.  It will be applied to the account upon checkout and show as a line item in the list of charges.  Guests who have made the reservations prior to this date will not be subject to this new fee schedule.  The rates will vary depending on the resort the guest is staying at.  We have the fee schedule below:

All Value Resorts:  $13 per night of stay (regular parking)

All Moderate Resorts:  $19 per night of stay (regular parking)

All Deluxe and Deluxe Villa Resorts: $24 per night of stay (regular parking)

Select Deluxe and Deluxe Villa Resorts:  $33 per night of stay (valet parking)

As with anything, there are concessions and exceptions to this rule.  Complimentary parking will remain in effect for certain scenarios, including the following:

  • Cast members
  • Guests with disabilities
  • Stays at the campsites at Fort Wilderness (for 1 vehicle)
  • Guests visiting resorts for dining reservations and other activities
  • Disney Vacation Club members (when staying at a DVC Deluxe Villa)

The addition of this fee schedule is a major change to how Walt Disney World has typically handled parking at resorts.  This feature has previously always been free and included in the resort stay.

What do you all think of this change?  Will this impact the way that you plan your Disney World vacation?

It led me to complete a yearlong Disney College Program working at merchandise locations within Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Disney-MGM Studios at that time) and I worked for Disney Parks & Resorts Technology in Project/Program Management. Now I get to write about Disney and help others plan their magical vacations! Disney holds a special place in the hearts of my entire family as my husband proposed there, we honeymooned there, took trips… More »
