Rescue at Animal Kingdom Ride

According to The Orlando Sentinel, 12 people were rescued from the Kali River Rapids ride in Animal Kingdom.

Firefighters from the Reedy Creek Emergency Services were called to a Disney park today to assist after 12 people were stuck on a halted ride.

The guest were passengers on the Kali River Rapids attraction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, said Bo Jones, assistant fire chief for Reedy Creek.

Jones said none of the passengers were injured or ill. Firefighters were called to the scene at 1:21 p.m. and by 2 p.m. everyone was off the ride.

“No one was in jeopardy or in a dangerous situation,” Jones said.

The guest got stuck after “some sort of malfunction on the ride,” Jones added, but it’s not clear what caused the malfunction. None of the passengers were injured. Firefighters were called to the scene at 1:21 p.m. and by 2 p.m. everyone was off the ride, Jones said.

Now that the guest are off, Disney staffers will reset the attraction and make sure it is safe for people to ride before reopening it for guests.
