BREAKING: Disney Gives Look at New ‘Toy Story’ Ride in Development

Something big is happening in Tomorrowland, and Disney just gave fans their first glimpse.

Earlier this month, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin closed at Magic Kingdom, and many wondered what would replace it. Now, Disney has revealed exciting details about the attraction’s transformation—and it feels less like a refurbishment and more like an entirely new ride.

New Story, New Character

The reimagined experience is diving deeper into the Toy Story universe. Imagineers, working hand-in-hand with Pixar, have developed a new character named “Buddy,” a cheerful support robot who will help guests prepare for their mission. Buddy will handle system checks, pump up excitement, and give riders a chance to practice their aim before the real adventure begins. With this addition, the attraction will feel more immersive and story-driven than ever.

All-New Ride Vehicles

Say goodbye to the old cruisers. The new ride vehicles sport a sleek, Star Command-inspired look with bright colors and sharp designs. Each one will include onboard video monitors showing real-time scores and other fun features. For fans who love the competitive side of the attraction, this is a huge upgrade that promises to make every ride-through even more engaging.

Handheld Blasters and Reactive Targets

One of the biggest frustrations of the old version was the fixed blasters that made aiming nearly impossible. That’s changing. The ride will now feature handheld blasters with built-in sound, lighting, and vibration effects, plus an “always-on” laser so riders always know where they’re aiming. Targets throughout the ride will now react and light up when hit, adding a brand-new layer of fun.

What’s Next for Tomorrowland

Disney hasn’t confirmed the official name just yet, but with new vehicles, improved gameplay, and expanded story elements, this feels like a brand-new Toy Story ride coming to Magic Kingdom. Fans can expect the updated attraction to open next year, once Imagineers finish testing and fine-tuning the experience.

For now, the countdown begins. Tomorrowland is about to get a major upgrade, and fans will soon have another must-do ride to add to their list.
