After 59 Years, Disneyland Separates Blue Bayou Restaurant From Pirates of the Caribbean
Blue Bayou Restaurant and Pirates of the Caribbean have coexisted at Disneyland Park since 1967. But for a stretch this spring, the two will no longer operate simultaneously in New Orleans Square.
A Simultaneous Shutdown

Disneyland Resort announced earlier this year that both Pirates of the Caribbean and its attached Table-Service dining location would close simultaneously for refurbishment beginning May 4, 2026. May 3 is the final day to experience either before the work begins.
Construction permits filed ahead of the closure suggest Walt Disney Imagineers are carrying out routine maintenance on the 59-year-old attraction, though Disneyland Resort has not detailed its specific plans.
Blue Bayou Gets a Reopening Date…With Caveats

On Thursday, Disneyland Resort updated its website with new information about Blue Bayou’s return. The restaurant is “tentatively scheduled” to reopen on May 21, but guests arriving that day won’t find things entirely as they were. The dining location will operate under a “modified dining experience” while the Pirates of the Caribbean refurbishment continues around it.
The Southern California Disney park states that “Views will be obstructed and Guests may hear some refurbishment noise” as crews work on Pirates of the Caribbean nearby.

Blue Bayou Restaurant is open for lunch and dinner from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on most days, and reservations are strongly recommended as the Table-Service dining location regularly books out well in advance. The menu centers on Cajun-Creole classics, including the Monte Cristo sandwich, mint juleps, gumbo, and crème brûlée.
Disneyland Resort has yet to confirm a reopening date for the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. Both it and Blue Bayou Restaurant go dark on May 4, 2026.
