Beloved Disney Character Disappears From Theme Park for Second Time

She did it again. She is gone. The ceiling door is closed, the swing is empty, and somewhere in Grizzly Hall a bear’s disembodied voice is singing “A Whole New World” to absolutely nobody while Wendell and Gomer perform awkwardly next to a conspicuously absent swing.

Teddi Barra, the beloved bear who descends from the ceiling at Country Bear Musical Jamboree at Magic Kingdom, is missing again. This is the second time. She was gone for about a week in September under the exact same circumstances, returned without explanation, and has now disappeared again. Disney has said nothing. The ceiling door remains shut. We are keeping watch.

For the Uninitiated, Here Is What Is Happening

Country Bear Musical Jamboree has been running in Frontierland at Magic Kingdom since 1971. It is one of the oldest attractions at the park, it has a genuinely devoted cult following, and it got a solid refresh in 2024 with a new name and a new setlist built around country-style Disney covers including “The Bare Necessities,” “A Whole New World,” and “Try Everything.” If you have never been, it is a sit-down Audio-Animatronic bear show and it is absolutely worth doing at least once in your life.

Teddi Barra’s whole bit is that she comes down from a door in the ceiling on a swing to perform “A Whole New World” with Gomer and Wendell. She also shows up for the big finale. She is a fan favorite. She has a whole thing. And right now, the door in the ceiling is closed and she is not there.

Her voice still plays. Which means you can hear her but not see her, while the other bears perform as if she is present. It is a little eerie honestly. The show continues. The bears carry on. Teddi is simply… somewhere else.

This Has Now Happened Twice

The September disappearance lasted about a week and resolved quietly with no announcement. Based on that precedent, this is almost certainly a maintenance situation and she will be back before long. But the fact that this is the second time in a few months means people are paying attention, and rightfully so.

Disney does not comment on animatronic maintenance, which is completely standard, so do not expect a statement. The September situation resolved on its own and this one probably will too. But if you are heading to Magic Kingdom specifically to see the full Country Bear Musical Jamboree experience, Teddi Barra on her swing is one of the better moments in the show and her absence is noticeable.

Meanwhile Frontierland Is Absolutely Chaotic Right Now

The Teddi Barra situation is a small story but it is happening inside a Frontierland that is in the middle of a complete transformation and it is a lot.

Rivers of America is gone. Tom Sawyer Island is gone. The Liberty Square Riverboat is gone. All of that cleared out to make way for Piston Peak National Park, a Cars-themed area coming to the land. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is closed through 2026. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opened last summer on the Splash Mountain site. Villains Land is in development and will eventually be a whole dedicated expansion for Disney’s best antagonists.

Country Bear Musical Jamboree is essentially one of the last remaining OG Frontierland experiences operating normally right now, which makes it feel both more precious and more amusing that its most beloved bear keeps vanishing.

What You Should Do If You Are Visiting Soon

Go see Country Bear Musical Jamboree even without Teddi. It is free, it is air-conditioned, there is basically no line, and the rest of the bear cast is fully there and fully operational. Big Al is there. Henry is there. Ernest the Dude is there. The show is still fun.

But if you specifically want to see the complete version with Teddi on her swing, do a quick check of Disney fan Twitter and Reddit the morning of your visit. These communities track animatronic outages in real time and will know immediately if she has returned. The September outage lasted about a week, so statistically speaking she probably will not be gone too long this time either.

And genuinely, if you have been sleeping on Country Bear Musical Jamboree because it seems like a random old bear show that does not compare to the park’s bigger attractions — please reconsider. Frontierland is changing rapidly around it and there will come a day when this show no longer exists in its current form. Going now, surrounded by construction walls and the ruins of a land being rebuilt, is a weirdly poetic experience. Take the kids. Let the bears sing Disney songs at you. Check if Teddi is back. You will not regret it.
