Australian Entertainment Takes Over Classic Disney Theater
Disneyland has added signage and decorations for “Bluey’s Best Day Ever!” at Fantasyland Theatre, marking the Australian children’s show’s debut at the original Disney park. The live stage show begins performances on March 22, 2026.
The New Look
The theater entrance now features:
- “Fun Fair” medallion above the entrance
- “Bluey’s Best Day Ever!” banner featuring Bluey and clouds
- Blue bunting draped over the medallion and banner
- Colorful paint on the base of each archway leg
- Fake paint cans and brushes placed near the legs
Disney filed a permit for new signage in late February and removed the standard Fantasyland Theatre sign this week, replacing it with Bluey-specific branding.
Inside, the theater features blue-sky screens, fake trees, and additional theming that transform the venue into an immersive Bluey environment.
About the Disney Show
“Bluey’s Best Day Ever!” transforms Fantasyland Theatre into the grounds of Bluey’s school hosting a fair. The production includes:
- Games and music from Bluey episodes
- Live appearances by Bluey and her sister Bingo
- Troupe of comedic actors and musicians
- Multiple performances throughout the day
Themed foods will be available at Troubadour Tavern, extending the Bluey experience beyond the theater.
About Bluey and Disney
Bluey is an Australian animated children’s television series that premiered in 2018. Created by Joe Brumm and produced by Ludo Studio, the show follows six-year-old Blue Heeler Bluey, her younger sister Bingo, and their parents Bandit and Chilli.
The series has been widely praised for its storytelling, parenting themes, and depiction of childhood imagination.
While produced in Australia for ABC Kids, Bluey gained global popularity through Disney platforms, including Disney Channel, Disney Junior, and Disney+. The show became one of the most-streamed children’s programs on Disney+ and has expanded into merchandise, live stage shows, books, and interactive experiences worldwide.
Fantasyland Placement
The placement of Bluey in Fantasyland is significant. Fantasyland traditionally houses attractions and entertainment based on Disney’s own animated classics, including Peter Pan, Snow White, Pinocchio, and Alice in Wonderland.
Introducing Bluey, an Australian-produced property Disney distributes but didn’t create, into Fantasyland represents an evolution in how the company uses its theme park lands and what IP is considered appropriate for spaces traditionally reserved for Disney’s own creations.
Broader Bluey Disney Expansion
Bluey’s Disneyland debut is part of a larger rollout across Disney’s vacation offerings:
- Walt Disney World experiences coming this year
- Character appearances on Disney Cruise Line sailings
- Multi-platform strategy maximizing visibility across Disney touchpoints
The expansion demonstrates the company’s confidence in Bluey’s commercial potential and popularity with American families, despite the show’s Australian origins.
The Disney+ Connection
Their decision to give Bluey prominent placement in Fantasyland reflects the character’s proven success on Disney+, where it became one of the platform’s most-streamed children’s programs.
This streaming data provides evidence that American families have embraced Bluey despite its Australian accents, settings, and cultural references, justifying Disney’s investment in physical experiences at Disneyland.
What This Means for Disney
The Bluey takeover of Fantasyland Theatre represents a shift in Disney’s approach to park entertainment. Rather than limiting Fantasyland to Disney-created properties, the company is treating the park as a platform for popular Disney-distributed content regardless of original creator.
This precedent could open the door for other successful Disney-distributed shows to receive similar treatment in classic parks, gradually transforming spaces that once exclusively featured Disney’s own creations into more diverse entertainment venues.
For now, Bluey fans have a dedicated space at Disneyland starting March 22, with live performances throughout the day bringing the beloved Australian show to life in the original American Disney park.
