Three Decades Later, Disney Shuts Down Popular Onsite Restaurant
After 33 years, Disneyland Paris Resort has closed one of the most iconic dining locations on its property. Annette’s restaurant, which opened alongside the European Disney park on April 12, 1992, closed on January 5, 2026, for an extensive overhaul of its dining and kitchen areas. Here’s the latest update on the construction in the Disney Village shopping, dining, and entertainment district.
Two Closures at Once
Annette’s restaurant closed just two days after the final day of operation for its next-door neighbor, the original Disney Village Disney Store, which featured some of the last nostalgic, colorful 1990s-style decor at similar merchandise locations around the world. The shop is being transformed into Disney Wonders, a modernized, franchise-based store set to open in late summer 2026.

Construction walls surrounded the former Disney Store location on January 8, according to X (formerly known as Twitter) user @DLPReport. However, even though Annette’s had already closed by that time, crews did not install temporary barriers around the restaurant at that point.

However, it didn’t take long for the barricades to arrive at Annette’s. On January 14, @DLPReport shared this photo of the construction walls that will likely surround the diner for much of its year-long refurbishment:

Disney Restaurant Overhaul

During the refurbishment, crews are significantly expanding the size of the kitchens and completely renovating the dining room, thereby slightly increasing the maximum capacity. Disneyland Paris Resort has promised a full floor and furniture replacement, while keeping the retro-style restaurant charm that Disney Parks fans enjoy.
The bar area is undergoing a complete redesign, featuring chrome accents and a new layout that pays tribute to the aesthetic of 1950s diners. Booths around the restaurant will be inspired by car seats from the same area, featuring the classic pastel colors of pink, baby blue, and vanilla yellow that evoke all the nostalgia of the diner era.
