America’s First Theme Park Will Close This October

Planning your fall trip to Knott’s Berry Farm just got a little more complicated. Knott’s Scary Farm, the park’s annual Halloween event, has made a quiet adjustment to its 2025 calendar, and it’s one that fans are already noticing.

Originally, the event was scheduled to run for 28 nights between September 18 and November 1, 2025, including two rare Wednesday dates in late October. Now, those Wednesdays have vanished from the official calendar, leaving guests to wonder what happened.

Where the News Came From

The first sign of the change didn’t come from Knott’s itself, but from the fan community. The theme park site Park Journey shared an update on X (formerly Twitter), showing that the October 22 and October 29 event nights had been removed.

Their post also mentioned something even more surprising: according to what they’ve heard, performers had not been informed of the change. That makes the situation even more puzzling, since Scary Farm’s monsters and entertainment staff usually prepare months in advance for the season.

At this time, Knott’s has not issued a formal explanation for the update.

What’s Changing (and What’s Not)

If you were planning to attend Scary Farm on either of those two Wednesdays, here’s the bottom line: those dates are currently no longer available.

That brings the event down from 28 nights to 26, a length still comparable to previous years, but shorter than what was originally announced for 2025.

The rest of the calendar remains the same: Scary Farm will still run Thursdays through Sundays beginning September 18 and wrapping up on November 1.

For guests who purchased the Scary Farm Pass (the $159 ticket that allows unlimited visits), the change doesn’t reduce the value dramatically, but it does mean fewer nights to choose from. And for anyone hoping to take advantage of quieter midweek crowds, the disappearance of Wednesdays may be a disappointment.

A Look at This Year’s Lineup

Even with the calendar shake-up, there’s plenty to look forward to at Knott’s Scary Farm this year. The 2025 lineup features:

  • 10 Haunted Mazes: Including two all-new experiences, Mary – The Haunting of Worth Home (a ghostly revenge story) and The Zoo (a terrifying hybrid creature nightmare). Returning mazes include Origins: The Curse of Calico, Cinema Slasher, Eight Fingers Nine: The Boogeyman, and more.

  • 5 Scare Zones: From the fog-filled alleys of Ghost Town Streets to the speakeasy-inspired Gore-ing ’20s and the carnival chaos of CARNEVIL, monsters will once again take over every corner of the park.

  • 3 Live Shows: Longtime favorites like The Hanging will return, alongside the carnival-inspired Le Magnifique Carnaval du Grotesque and the illusion-filled Conjurers.

Scary Farm is also bringing back seasonal overlays like the Timber Mountain Log Ride: Halloween Hootenanny and fan-favorite extras like the Into the Fog Art Show.

Why Did the Dates Disappear?

That’s the big mystery. Theme parks don’t usually cut nights once they’ve been announced, unless there’s a compelling reason. Some fans speculate that Knott’s may be looking at staffing challenges, since extra nights require more performers, ride operators, and support staff.

Others think it may simply be an attendance projection issue—Wednesdays might not draw enough crowds to justify the cost of running the full event.

The fact that, according to Park Journey, talent hadn’t been informed makes it hard to know if this is a temporary adjustment or a permanent decision. Without an official statement from Knott’s, all we can do is wait and see.

Tickets, Dining, and Planning Ahead

If you’re planning a trip, here’s what you need to know about ticketing options:

  • Scary Farm Pass: Unlimited entry to all nights, priced at $159 (or $155 for Season Passholders).

  • Single-night tickets: Starting at $64 when purchased online.

  • Fright & Fast Lane: Priority access to mazes and rides, starting at $139 (varies by night).

  • Boo-fet Dining: $49 for a buffet dinner with monsters, plus early entry into select mazes.

With two fewer dates on the schedule, we recommend booking your preferred nights sooner rather than later—weekends in particular are likely to be busier.

Knott’s Scary Farm 2025 is shaping up to be another massive Halloween season, with new haunted houses, classic mazes, and fog-drenched streets full of monsters. But the sudden removal of October 22 and 29 from the calendar has created uncertainty for both fans and performers.

Will Knott’s address the change? Could the Wednesdays reappear later if demand calls for it? We don’t know yet. What we do know is that Scary Farm remains one of the most popular and longest-running Halloween events in Southern California, and despite losing two dates, it’s still offering 26 nights of thrills.

If you were counting on a Wednesday night visit, it may be time to adjust your plans. For now, the official calendar stands—fog, monsters, and all.
