After Only 4 Months, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Shut Down at Disneyland
Almost five months after its grand opening, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Disneyland Park is still struggling to operate normally. One Disney Park guest recently shared her experience escaping the attraction after it suddenly broke down.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure premiered at Disneyland Park on November 15, 2024, following the Magic Kingdom Park version’s grand opening in June. The Princess and the Frog (2009) replaced Splash Mountain’s controversial Song of the South (1946) theme, taking guests on a musical adventure alongside Princess Tiana (Anika Noni Rose), Prince Naveen (Bruno Campos), Louis (Michael-Leon Wooley), and Mama Odie (Jenifer Lewis).
Although Disneyland Resort’s version of the Splash Mountain retheme suffered fewer malfunctions in its early days than Walt Disney World Resort’s, things haven’t been smooth sailing in Bayou Country. Days ago, the attraction went viral after a disturbing audio malfunction terrified Disneyland Park guests.
Days later, TikTok user @livsandtrent shared her experience evacuating Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Disneyland Resort. The Disney Park guest described her adventure as a “VIP backstage tour…but not by choice”:
@livsandtrent This is NOT how we expected our Disneyland day to go. Tiana’s Bayou broke down, we got stuck, got wet, and all we got was a FastPass. Disney, where’s my merch voucher?! How about a dry shirt instead? 😂 #disneyland #disney #fun #fyp
Disney cast members evacuated guests one log at a time, as multiple logs were bunched up at the end of the attraction. They then walked guests through the set and into a backstage area, where they got a behind-the-scenes look at the advanced audio-animatronics and the water reserve.
According to the guest, Disney cast members gave everyone who evacuated Tiana’s Bayou Adventure a complimentary Lightning Lane Pass. This could be used to return if the ride reopened later or on other select Disneyland Park attractions.
“Tiana’s Bayou broke down, we got stuck, got wet, and all we got was a FastPass,” the TikToker joked. “Disney, where’s my merch voucher?! How about a dry shirt instead?”
Although it’s unclear what caused this breakdown, the Disneyland Park attraction eventually reopened and was operating normally at the time of this article’s publication.
