After Closing Down Location, Shut Down Plan Updated at Magic Kingdom

Guests visiting Magic Kingdom received a surprise treat this week when one of the park’s beloved attractions reopened earlier than planned. Under the Sea–Journey of The Little Mermaid, which had temporarily closed for refurbishment, quietly resumed operation on the evening of July 25, a full day ahead of its originally scheduled return.

According to WDWMagic, “Under the Sea – Journey of The Little Mermaid at Magic Kingdom appears to have reopened ahead of its scheduled July [26] return. As of 7 p.m. on July 25, the attraction is listed with posted wait times in the My Disney Experience app, indicating that it is available to guests.”

The ride was initially scheduled to be unavailable from July 21 through July 25, with a reopening set for July 26. However, eager fans spotted it running ahead of schedule, offering an unexpected opportunity to revisit Ariel and friends under the sea.

Magic Kingdom is home to a vibrant mix of attractions, both classic and contemporary. Alongside Journey of The Little Mermaid, guests can experience family favorites inspired by timeless Disney stories like Winnie the Pooh and Alice in Wonderland, high-energy adventures such as TRON Lightcycle / Run, and thrilling coasters like the reimagined Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, based on The Princess and the Frog (2009). There are also iconic originals, such as Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Pirates of the Caribbean, that continue to draw crowds.

For those visiting on July 26, the Little Mermaid attraction is now operating from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. for Early Theme Park Entry, and from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. for all other Guests.

Even more excitement awaits night owls. Magic Kingdom’s new nighttime entertainment, Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away Parade, steps off twice nightly at 9 p.m. and again at 11 p.m., offering a glowing end to a day filled with Disney magic. The long-awaited return of a nighttime parade has added an extra sparkle to evenings at the park.
