After 105 Days in the Dark, Disney World Confirms Reopening of Grand Floridian Staple

Disney World guests who have missed a familiar Grand Floridian favorite finally have a reason to look ahead.

For much of the summer, one longtime option at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa has been unavailable. The closure started in July and forced guests to look elsewhere, even if this particular stop had already become part of their usual Disney World routine.

Now, the return is getting much closer.

Disney has opened reservations for dates beginning in early November, giving guests a clearer idea of when this extended closure will finally end. With roughly 60 days to go, the countdown is officially on.

Grand Floridian Remains a Disney World Favorite

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa has long been one of the most recognizable hotels at Walt Disney World.

The Victorian-inspired resort sits along Seven Seas Lagoon, just across the water from Magic Kingdom. Guests can travel between the two locations by monorail, boat, or the walking path that connects the resort to the park.

That location has always made the Grand Floridian convenient, especially for guests spending a full day at Magic Kingdom.

Still, the resort offers more than easy transportation.

Its large lobby, waterfront setting, upscale atmosphere, and collection of restaurants have made it a destination even for guests staying elsewhere. Visitors can leave Magic Kingdom, spend some time exploring the hotel, grab a meal, and head back to the park later.

That is part of what made one recent closure so noticeable.

Grand Floridian Café Closed in July

Grand Floridian Café officially closed on July 20 for an extended refurbishment.

The closure removed a longtime dining option from the resort and left some returning guests without one of their more familiar places to eat.

Grand Floridian Café has traditionally offered a relaxed sit-down experience compared with some of the more elaborate restaurants around the resort. Guests could enjoy a table-service meal without turning dinner into a lengthy or particularly formal event.

Its proximity to Magic Kingdom also made it convenient.

Guests could leave the park, travel to the Grand Floridian for a meal and break, then return without having to venture far across Disney World.

Once the restaurant closed in July, though, visitors had to adjust those plans.

The wait has already lasted for weeks, but Disney has now provided a much clearer picture of when guests can expect the restaurant back.

Reservations Begin November 2

Guests can now make dinner reservations for Grand Floridian Café beginning November 2, 2026.

By that point, the restaurant will have been unavailable for more than 100 days.

That is a lengthy closure for guests who regularly include the restaurant in their Disney World plans, but the opening of reservations gives visitors something concrete to work with.

It also places the return just as Disney World moves deeper into its holiday season.

Magic Kingdom and the surrounding resorts attract plenty of visitors during that time, and the Grand Floridian becomes especially popular thanks to its seasonal atmosphere and decorations.

Having another sit-down dining option available should give guests more flexibility during that busy stretch.

For anyone traveling before November 2, however, the Grand Floridian still offers other options.

Guests Still Have Other Dining Options

Visitors looking for a quicker meal can head to Gasparilla Island Grill, the Grand Floridian’s quick-service location.

That gives guests a casual option without committing much of their day to a sit-down meal.

The resort also offers more upscale options for visitors seeking a longer dining experience.

Guests can expand their options even further by using the monorail.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Contemporary Resort both sit along the monorail route, making it relatively easy to leave the Grand Floridian and find additional dining options.

Magic Kingdom also remains nearby, offering guests another selection of dining options without having to travel far within Walt Disney World.

Those alternatives can help fill the gap until Grand Floridian Café returns.

The Long Wait Is Nearly Over

More than three months will have passed between Grand Floridian Café’s July closure and the arrival of November reservations.

For guests who regularly visit the restaurant, that is a significant stretch of time.

Still, the important part now is that the closure appears to have a clear ending.

Dinner reservations beginning November 2 mean guests traveling later this fall can once again start working Grand Floridian Café into their plans.

After spending much of the summer and early fall unavailable, this longtime Grand Floridian staple is finally getting close to welcoming guests back.
